It Is a pretty thing to see how tho
little girls and boys of today are truly
interested In doing kind things for
others and how their ciders spur them
on In their undertakings. Lnst Satur
day, for instance, little Malslc Chanco
and Helen Chance, who arc tho daugh
ters of Dr. and Mrs. Burton and con
sequently grand-daughters of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward F. Bealo (Mrs. Chanco
was Rydlo Beale), gave a musicale at
their homo In Radnor for tho benefit
of Queen Mary's Needlework Guild, of
which Mrs. John Harvey Gordon, of
Bryn Mawr, Is tho leader. The children
arranged and managed tho musicale
entirely by themselves, and $50 was
cleared. Among their little friends
, who were Interested wero Dorothy
Hodgo and Muriel Hodge, Virginia
Heckscher, Mary Baltz Carroll and
Theodore Spencer. The children played
various selections on tho piano, violin
and cello, and It was really a very
good performance.
I hear that one of our young bachel
ors, who for tho last few years has
been making his home in a city on one
of the Great Lukes, was known there ns
the "Debutantes' Idol." It seems that
this same young man, says the little
Bird, recently returned to this city and
chose for himself a future wlfo right
from his own homo town, and thusly
did ho disappoint all tho young girls
and several mammas who had hopes
that their ow daughters might have
succeeded In keeping the young man's
affections to the West. However, such
Mtas not the case, and they nre all look
ing forward now seeing the girl of
his choice, for she will soon make a
Tlslt in that city.
Of course they are wondering what
ihe is llko; whether she Is pretty tall
or short light or dark plump or slen
der; but, tako It from me, Bhe is a
i stunner and by far on6 of tho prettiest
' girls In the younger set hero; and
with tho reputation for good looks
which Philadelphia girls have that Is
' rolng some. Don't you think?
It seems to me, however, that some
of those cities on tho Lakes can boast
a bit now and again about tho looks
of their girls, witness Mildred MacAr-
' thur whoso engagement to Howard
Itansell was announced In lato No
vember. I have not see?n her, but I
have seen her picture and let mo tell
you thero nro not very many In this
city ot Brotherly Lovo who can hold
a candle to her for beauty and for
charm, too, If all I hear is true, and I
have reason to think it is.
Tho Plays and Players will hold
Its annual Club Night In the Belle-vue-Stratford
ballroom this evening.
The play will ho "Dolly Reforming

leading roles. Usually these affairs
