the latest serial picture, ami will bo
s. .u" JtYL cdnesfUy and Thursday
at the Victoria. Many changes nre being
made to this popular house, and full an
nouncements will come shortly.
Dorothy Donnelly, appearing In "Ma
damo X at the Falrmount on Wednes
day. Is certainly keeping tho postmns
ters busy, due to her roaming from one
company to another. Tct her work for
each has been of tho best.
Theodore Roberts Is an adept in the
art or mnxe-up. His character In "Mr.
Grex of Monte Carlo," booked for the
Bluebird next Saturday, Is well done.
The mnnner In which Vnleska Surntt
has her hair arranged In "Tho Immi
grant. - which comes to the Germantown
next Saturday, ha provoked much com
ment from the ffmnle portion of the
audiences where this picture has been
shown.
Tho full account of tho wonderful new
Klmbnll pipe organ at the Globe, 59th
nnd Market streets, will appear on Wed
nesday. Tho recitals nre moetlng with
an enthusiasm on tho part of the
audience, which Is well founded when
Buch artists as Miss J. M. F. McCloakoy
nre at tho console.
Harold Lockwood, who appears at the
Fifty-second Btreet Theatre on Saturday,
in ine iiouro or n Tliousnnd Scandals,"
denies that ho la married, nnd Is almost
ready to light any one even suggesting
such a thing.
"Tho Family Stain" win be at the Cen
tury on Wednesday, with Frederick Perry
In the leading role. Ho is also enacting
tho part of the Dead Man In "On Trial"
now at tho Garrlck.
Joseph Forto has Installed a. lost and
found department at the Shorwood for
tho convenience of the patrons. Bnrl
Forto Is carefully selecting all the litho
graphs which are used there.
Just because he noted ro well In "Tho
Cheat," which comes to tho Leader Mon
day, with Fannie Ward. Sussuo Haya
kawa, tho Japanese actor, has been placed
under a long-term contra-t with tho Jesso
L. Lasky Company.
Edna Goodrich, who appears In "Arm
strong's Wife," at tho Cedar, on Friday,
was born In Logansport, Ind., In 1SS3.
It Is quite unusuat for a nelRhborhood
theatre to .show n fcaturo film that Is
over live reels In length, but "Tho Battlo
Cry of Peace," to be shown nt tho Bel
mont next week, Is over this number of
reels, nnd will bo projected In tho samo
mnnner ns when It npponred at tho
Metropolitan recently. Coming ns It does
upon tho completion of the Americaniza
tion Conference, nnd tho Bpcech of Theo
dore Roosevelt. It Is Indeed timely, nnd
Its plea for national preparedness, a call
to arms, not for war but for peace, Is
well brought out. Charles Rlclvman and
a big list of Vltagraph stars assist In tho
many roles used to tell the story.
Tho iocust will show "Tho Fourth
Estnto" next Monday, Tuesday and Wed
nesday. "Tho Fourth Estate" was writ
ten by Joseph Medill Patterson, a news
paper man himself, who injected Into tho
story that Indefinable ntmosphere of
working life In every department of a
newspaper plant that has an unexplaln
ablo charm for outsiders. Tho story was
told In nctlon through tho portrnyal of
the principal characters by Ruth Blair,
Clifford Bruce and Samuel Ryan, tho set
tings for the most Important scenes 'be
ing backgrounded by familiar places In
Chicago. The newspaper scenes were
taken In tho offices and mechanical de
partments of tho Chicago Herald. Al
though Chicago furnished most of tho
scenes. Director Powell Journeyed to Co
balt. Out., for tho action that was tho
turning point In the story, and flashes of
tho snow-ladencd country In Canada con
trast vividly with tho hurry and bustlo
of the Windy City's busy thoroughfares.
The scenes that will most Impress those
interested In newspaper establishments
and their modus operandi, occurs when a
big story Is ready for release and Its
Journey from typeyrlter to the printed
pago ot a city dally Is flashed on the
screen.
