HANCY WYNNE ATTENDS THE OPERA
AND CHATS ABOUT MANY THINGS
Large Bazaar for St. Luke's Hospital in Tokio, Which
- Will Be Held at Ritz-Carlton This Afternoon
and Evening Various Other Affairs
0'
j COt'KSE wo nrc alt looking for-.,-,
I In tlin Imznnr. miction and
eabftrot show, which will be held to
night nt the Itltz-Cnrlton. Tho kid
ji. ori to hnvo n great time nt a
fashion show, when wo mo to vote
for It' licst-drcssed ones. It will be
really very cute, I think, nnd I nm
curious Id know who will take pnrt In
It, ns the mothers have so far refused
to reveal the Identity of tho weo In
fants. But tho cabaret In tho evening will
be the greatest fun, especially the bal
let In which Virginia Harrison Smith,
Alvft Serseant nnd various others will
appear.
The cabaret will ho preceded by an
auptlon Hitlo ftt 9 o'clock sharp, to dis
pose of all tho nrtlclca left from tho
tale, and I gucss there will bo some
bargains! So wo had better all bo
there on time.
An effort Is bolng made to havo a
nationwide campaign for the raising
of funds for tho hospital, as tho Em.
peror of Japan has pledged a large
gum of money If this country can raiso
the rest.
. Mr. Charles Hodman Pancoast, of
Ocrmantown, nnd Dr. William H. Jef
freys left yesterday for Washington to
address a larg:o meeting, nt which the
President nnd his Cabinet were pres
ent, at 6 o'clock In tho afternoon, In
the Interests of tho hospital.
The committee for today's affair, un
der tho chairmanship of Miss nose
Dolan, Is working Indefatlgably, and
all day yesterday were busily engaged
adding last touches to tho already
lovely decorations.
Tho sale of tlokots has been very
great and mnny reservations havo
been mado for dinner before tho auc
tion sale. Tho others on tho commit
tee beside Iloso Dolan aro Sydney El
lis, Harriot Frazlor, Eleanor Hopkins,
who seems to bo In every charity go

There Is no doubt nbout It, tho opera
Is ti brilliant affair from all points of
view. Last night's performance being
now to Philadelphia, tho audience
really watched tho proceedings more
than It looked nt Its fellow members.
And from tho ripples of laughter over
' the great house, but for tho wonder
ful Strauss music and tho cxciulslto
waltzes, which mado me want to get
right up and lanco, der Itoscnkavnller
was equal to a vaudeville for comedy.
It was a beautiful performance In
every sense.
Th,o nbsenco of Mr. and Mrs. Stotcs
bury from tholr box, which was oc
cupied by Mrs. Henry Urinton Coxo,
Mrs. Henry Cndwalader Chapman and
Mrs. Theodora Cramp, made no spe
cial mecca toward which tho occupants
of tho grnnd tier usually congregate,
but everj- box was crowded, and audi
gowns nnd such beautiful women aro
-hard to nnd.
Mrs, Paul Denckla Mills was look
ins very charming, and a recent brldo
to nppear for tho first tlmo was Mrs.
Jack Frazcr, who was Mnry Tllgh-
man from tho South, and is very
pretty. As usual, Mrs. Charlie Wright
was wonderfully gowned nnd looked
very handsome. Sho bad a remark
able head-dress of black tullo bows,
which were attached to tho head by a
Jewel.
A great many went down to the Itltz
after tho performance for tho supper
dance. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Scott gave a
supper party for Mr. nnd Mrs. George
McFadden, Jr.: Major Henry, Mr. and
Mrs. Sidney Brock nnd Craig BIddle.
Mr, and Mrs. Frailer Harrison en
tertained Mr. nnd Mrs. J. Kearsley
Mitchell, 3d; Mr. and Mrs. William
Elkins and Mr, and Mrs. Charles
Milan.

Carl Feldman were the guests of Mr.
nd Mrs. Walter Jeffords.
A very Interesting party Included
Mr and Mrs. Charlton Yarnall nnd
their guests, Mr, Hownrd C. Clark. 3d;

Mr. and Mrs. Gross and Dr. nnd

"Hope" and "Tony" Cromwell and a
number of out-of-town guests.
Others who gave supper parties
ere Captain Edward Cassatt. Morris

SOCIAL leaders in America's greatest cities are
united in their admiration of Hudson closed
cars. Hudson Limousines stand, nighdy, before
the highest-class opera houses and theatres. At all
prominent clubs and hotels, Hudsons are much in
evidence. Yet the Hudson, ranking equal with
highest-grade cars, costs perliaps one-third their
price. If you have a closed car in mind, come
and see us.
