With Caruso, Scottl and Alda as draw

After all our expectation the l'rlnce

Mrs James Iargo entertained In her

As usual, after the performance the
nitz-Carllon supper-dance was the at

given there. The Stoesburys entertained
a party. Including the Tony Cromwells,
Mr and Mrs. Walter Brooks, Jr., tho

Mrs. B, Franklin Clyde had as guests

Tho Fcrrulls had Invited Caruso to at
tend the supper-dance, but the singer
was so fatigued ho returned at once to
New York. Mrs. Thomas Glover had as
rucsts Mr. and Mrs. Lentz and tho "Wal
ter Blnbons.
Hope and Tony Cromwell were at the
Btokes-Coxo reception In the afternoon,
which wns a perfect Jam of people, and
as for the presents I never saw such an
array. Thero was not a square Inch be
tween them on tho tables, which were
arranged around tho rooms, nnd they
wcra all beautiful, not a single eyesore.
Tho people who wanted to get In curly
had a time out there, for tho 2:32 train
was delayed until after 3:15, but they
finally came In time to go to Valentino
Mitchell's llrst nt home.
Tho Wheeler men's party for Hllza
fceth Wheeler was a great success last
night Elizabeth looked charming In a
frock of palo blue, and received her
guestR standing between her two big
uncles.
There woro small tables nnd every one
was specially well plnccd, which Is a great
thing. Tho girls were principally debu
tantes, nmong whom wero Kmlllo Ken

Every one Is much excited over tho
words littered the other day at a tea by
the pretty sister of one of our debutantes,
who Is creating quite a furore in tho hearts
of her many admirers. Pretty sister lias
a trio of such ardent admirers that 1
am wondering which ono she will choose
aa she has evidently decided not to wait
much longer to fako her choice, for sho
will not let little sister beat her to it, so
to apeak, so she says sho will announce
It llrst. It must be awfully hnrd to de
cide In a hurry, don't you think?
A goodly number of Philadelphia girls
and men left for Baltimore last week to
attend the dance given by Mr. and Mrs.
Ilewea for Priscllla Dawson and Nancy
Olcott, two of the most attractive debs
In Baltimore this winter. Beth Scott
was the guest of the Dawsons while Anne
Spencer stayed over tho week-end with
her old school chum, Fanny Stewart Mc
Lean. Gertrude Heckscher Is visiting
Mrs. C. Morton Stewart at her lovely old
country home in the Green Spring Val
ley. She and her mother are expected
back today, which doubtless will cheer
the drooping spirits of a number of
Joung suitors, Other Phlladelphlans who
attended the dance were Alva Sergeant,
Brooke Edwards, John Mears, Aplln
Sparks. Berkley Reed, Hal Adams, and
a young man who halls from Boston, but
la making his home here this year, though
roost of his spare moments are spent in
the city on the Chesapeake. I am told
that the lady of his heart really lives
there so thai Is surely the cause, very
best reason for his many visits.
Another question in my mind Is Just
Jhen a certain little brown-haired,
brown-eyed lady who came out last sea
Jon will tell us of her happy and, as she
fondly believes, well-guarded secret. We
have had our suspicions for some time
nd as to the mother of the mai) In the
ease she Is brimming over with delight
about It all. for bhe wants this very little
Person for a daughter-in-law more than
anything else In the world Just now.
