The Photoplay
Man-About-Town
When Manager Amsterdam took over
the West Allegheny Theatre, he promised
a new kind of program for the patrons.
He Is now giving one composed of sub
jects from- the many producers. Mr.
Amsterdam spends hit leisure time look
ing after the details of a busy exchange
and the Amber Theatre in Kensington.
The Market street theatres are now
securing their programs through the
Stanley Booking Company, which insures
the patrons the best pictures and early
presentations.
Mark M. DJttenfuss was a recent visitor
at the Liberty Studio in Germantown.
lie represents the Universal Company
now, but was associated with the first
movies in this city.
The World Film Corporation has rent
ed the studio for a special feature. This
city Is an ideal spot for the making of
motion pictures, as It is rich In scenic
and historical value.
The Chamber of Commerce should get
after the producers and try to Induce
them to locate here.
The moving-picture studio located at
4Sth street and Parkslde avenue win take
on an appearance of activity in the near
future If the rumors now being circulated
materialize.
Before Walter Jacobs, manager of the
Imperial, entered the picture field he was
an Instructor in wrestling.
Arrangements are ncario; completion
for the presentation of vaudeville at the
Lincoln and Point Breeze Theatres.
William Crozer, the manager of Logan
Auditorium, Is a singer and Sunday
school teacher. Whenever the opportu
nity comes to accompany the picture with
a song he uses this method and it meets
with hearty approval. Thisweelc he sang
"Sliver Theads Among the Oo!d'' during
the -showing of the picture.
Allen-May. now star salesman of the
local branch of the World Film Corpora
tion, was the first singer to us stereoptl
con slides. ThU led to the coining of
"Illustrated Songs." He was at the Fam
ily Theatre, Market and Juniper streets,
for several years.
Regular weekly meetings of the Mo
tion Picture Exhibitors' League will be
held every Friday at noon In the rooms.
1337 "Vine street The big subject now
is the coming movie balL
Mr. Hanna. of the Pastime Theatre,
wants to have the name Pastime copy
righted. We know where he can buy a
number of "Bijou." "Palace," "Dream
land" and other signs.
T There is no truth In the rumor that
Manager Hebrew, of the V. L. S. B.
office, is going to resign.
Operat'ons on the new theatre at SSth
and Pine street are rapidly Hearing- cora-
pletion.
Francis X. Bushman was a matinee
idol at the Camden Temple Theatre not
so many years ago.
The position of "Booker" in a film "ex
change Is Just as Important as that of
a train dispatcher. Each sees that the
right show or train Is sent to- the theatre
or town at the proper time and date.
