In order to give Miss Cunningham a chance to rest up before the start of tho doubles and mixed doubles, since she Is In the semifinal of both of these events. Hence, the gallery was imall, but what It lacked tn num bers It made up In enthusiasm. At the outset It looked like a walk over for tho Bostonlon. She eased up In the. fifth game, but took the sixth and seventh for the set at 6-1. Miss Cunningham had a grand total of 26 points, of which 10 were earned, eight from placement and two service aces. All but two of Mrs. Ker baugh's 15 points were from her op ponent's nets and outs. Mrs. Kerbaugh had 24 nets and outs and each had six placement aces, while Miss Cunningham served one double fault, making the point total 38 to 30 and the games 6 and 3.
