of rescuers are searching for more vlc

crushed to death when a street car

constructed In 7th avenue as a block and
a naif of the street surface collapsed.

Safety to Mayor Blankenburg shortly
after noon today In order to assume Im
mediate leadership of the fight against
the election of Thomas B. Smith, the Or
ganization candidate for Mayor. The
resignation does not go into effect un
til 6 o'clock this afternoon, in order to
allow the Director to sign several' im
portant contracts.
