Police Court Chronicles
A vivid imagination is one of the prized
possessions of Frank Lord. Added to
this ho has a keen sense of smell. Ho
used both to satisfy his thirst. Neces
sity drove Lord to make use of these
assets some time ago. Like most men
who hnve continuous thirsts, Lord lacks
the wherewithal to keep npaco with It
Ilut he has Initiative, and as most of
the saloons In the northeast still use the
summer swinging doors, Frank can creep
under them and Inhale the floating odors
of whisky, ale and beer until he Is or
dered out. Of course, he could open the
doors apd Inhale the liquid fumes stand
ing, but this methnri mnWa i, im..t.
to dodge the beer mallets and glasses

rection of the bar.
Lord wns on the scent on Frankford
avenue when Pollcemnn Vogt saw his two
feet protruding from a saloon near Alle
gheny avenue. The cop dragged Frank
to tho street and then took him to the
Belgrade nnd Clearfield Btreets police sta
tlon. When Magistrate Glenn henrd of Lord's
Imagination he expressed regret that
Frank had never thought of being a re
porter or a promoter. Lord told the
Judge confidentially that he had turned
down a number of good offers because
they were not quite tempting enough.
"I would like to go somewhere, some
where where tho world Is different." he
said finally.
"I know of the very place," replied
the Magistrate, and he suggested a three
months' sojourn at Holmesburg-on-the-Delaware.
Frank approved the sugges
tion somewhat gloomily.
