Two Sisters Are Married in East Lansdowne on Same
Day Germantown Nuptials Announce

TWO weddings took place yesterday
afternoon In East Lansdowne when
Sliss SInbel Lagasse was married to Sir.
William Johnson, nnd her sister, Sliss
VUlan Lngasse, became the bride of Sir.
William Bradley. Tho sisters, who nrc the
daughters of Sir. and Sirs. Arthur
Lagasse, had originally planned to be
married In St. John's Church. East Lans
downe, but nt tho last Sir. and Sirs.
Johnson decided to be married by the
magistrate. Sir. and Sirs. Bradley were
mart led In St. John's Church by Deacon
W. Taylor.
Both sisters wore satin gowns, orange
blcsoms nnd pearls and carried shower
bouquets of bride roses. They were at
tended, respectively, by n bridesmaid and
two llower girls.
A reception followed the two weddings
at tho home of Mr. nnd Sirs. Lagnsse, to
which about 200 guests were Invited.
Sir. and Sirs. Bradley had been child
hood swethearts, but Sir. nnd Sirs. John
son have only known each other for three
months.
Sir. and Sirs. Johnson gave as the only
reason for their having changed their
plans at the last minute as they did, that
they did not want to have any fuss about
their wedding.
After tho double reception tho two
couples left on a honeymoon, Sir. nnd
Mrs. Johnson going to Georgetown, Del.,
nnd Sir. and Mrs. Bradley to Wlldwood.
Both couples will live In East Lansdowne.

Tho marriage of Sliss Sara B. Ehlnger,
daughter of Mr. nnd Sirs. John Ehlnger,
of Clifton Heights, and Sir. Clnrence E.
Burkhart, of Norrlstown, took place last
evening at 8 o'clock at the home of tho
bride. Tho ceremony was performed by
the Rev. James Terklnplno, pastor of the
Slethodlst Church, In Clifton Heights. The
bride wore a white satin gown, trimmed
In old point laco nnd penrls. Her veil was
of net, with a wreath of orange blossoms;
and she carried a shower bouquet of
sweet peas. Sliss Slarlon Burkhart, who
wns bridesmaid, wore a gown of pink
satin nnd carried n bouquet of roses. Mr.
Georsre W. Hetherlr.gton, of Chester, was
best man. A reception followed the cere
mony, nftcr which tho young couple left
for Wlldwood. They will be at homo In
Norrlstown after October 1.

The marriage of Miss Lydla Stauss,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stauss,

A NUMBER of attractive costumes were
noticed on the Boardwalk today. Mr.
James M. Thomson looked very lovely In
n white lingerie gown and dainty cha
penu of pale-pink Georgette crepe decked
with n large pink rose. Sirs. Thomson
Is tho daughter of Speaker of the House
and Mrs. Champ Clark.

Mrs. Frank Bedford wore a rose chiffon
gown, ndorncd with pleatlngs of tho same
hue. Her rose chip hot was faced with
crepe and trimmed with a rose of the
dime hue.

CAPE SIAY, Aug. 2C. A delightful
lawn fete was given yesterdny afternoon
and evening on tho grounds of the Reed
residence on Lnfnyette street for the
benefit of the Church of the Advent.
From 3 until 5 o'clock there were games
to amuse tho children nnd a Punch and
Judy show and Ice cream, cakes and
candles were dispensed. The evening
wns reserved for the grown-ups, where,
in addition to a moving plcturo show,
there was dancing, the music being fur
nished by the Corinthian Yacht Club Or
chestra. Miss Slary Potter, of Overbrook. enter
tained Informally at bridge on Tuesday
afternoon.
Sir. and Sirs. N. Slyers Fltler and their
family have returned to their home,
Greystone, at Rlverton, N. J., after
severnl weeks' visit here at the Stockton
Villa. Accompanied by Sirs. Fltlcr's
mother. Sirs. Diddle, they mado the trip
by motor.
Sirs. J. M. D. Peltz gave a children's
party on Tuesday afternoon a.t the Red
Mill In honor of her Uttlo daughter and
son, SUss Elizabeth Peltz and Jacky
Peltz. There was music and dancing.

spending the summer In Chelsea, motored

naments have started, the men's singles
having begun last Saturday morning, with
nn entry list of 75 men, the winner ot
the semifinals to play Sir. Harvey Lake,
who won the championship of South Jer
sey last year. The ladles' singles and the
ladles' doubles will also be played otT this
week, nnd mnny of the ypunger set from
Pittsburgh, New York and Philadelphia
have entered Tho cups this year have
been carefully chosen nnd nre by far the
most attractive prizes that havo ever been
offered.
Another feature of the Ocean City
Yacht Club this year Is the Bulck five
passenger touring car that stands In the
large hall of the club waiting to be de
livered to tho lucky person who will be
come tho owner fdr one dollar. It Is
amusing to see the numerous people who
are debating what they shall do with It
It they win It. Among the members and
their guests seen around the club nre Mr.

turned this week from Beach Haven,
where they cruised to their yacht last

chosen a short and full skirt of navy
blue crepe, with a blue chiffon bodice.

and tan and black shoes lent the needed,
blend ot color. A largo white plcturo
hat, turned up In the back, with n trim
ming of bluo worsted, embroidered
around tho brim, and also around the
ribbon that circled the crown, was worn
with this costume.
SUss Sophie Blspham was looking par
ticularly well In a blue silk sweater over
a stunning white gown, made with a full
skirt, cut short and a pannma hat,
trimmed In bluo moire ribbon tho shade
of the sweater.
Sliss Leonle Bispham, ot New York,
was most becomingly gowned In a white
bodice of thin mull, n very full skirt of
yellow and white striped linen, with a
yellow silk sweater and long saBh. A
leghorn hat simply trimmed, and yellow
silk stockings and white buckskin sport
shoes gnve the finishing touches.
One of the most attractive afternoon
dresses that has been seen on the Board
walk was worn by Sirs. Joseph Frlti.
The gown wns of shadow lnce, the skirt
was made of three ruffles of lace, over
pale pink chiffon. A girdle ot white crepo
de chine, edged with pink, wsb arranged
on the Jacket, which was made with lace
sleeves and a standing collar. Long ends
of the crepe hung down on either side,
forming panlcrs. A pale pink chiffon
hat, trimmed with beautiful French roses,
was also worn, and gave the finishing
touch of color to the dress.

have left for the Adlrondacks, where
they will spend threo weeks.

motored to Newburgh, N, Y for the
