was the announcement that tho Penn
sylvania Steel Company had given ordets
to start Its No. 4 Stcelton furnaco,
which has been Idlo for a year and a halt.
Tho company will also blow ln Its No.
5 furnaco this month and Intends to en
largo tho No. 3 furnaco In tho fall.
Incidentally It becamo known today
that tho company had received nn order
for 2103 tons of steel rails from tho Flor
ida Knst Coast Hallway Company. Thero
aro now moro ordors on' the books tliun
nt any tlmo this year and the plants aro
opcrallm: about 70 per cent, of capacity,
excepting tho marine department, at
Sparrows Point, which Is running full
tlmo.
No Importunt changes occurred In this
week's statement of tho local banks and
money rates remained nt practically tho
snmo levels as they have hold for weeks.
Call monoy is quoted at 3Vi to 4 per' cent,
still, although usually about this tlmo of
'year tho crop movement Is apt to stiffen
rates.
