the shnres was said to have been quietly

best features of tho company's annual

and maintenance, The company appro
priates 15 per cent, each year from gross

Offlcials Deny That One Now Exists.
WASHINGTON, July 2S.-Treasury of
ficials today emphatically denied that a
deliclt in treasury finances exists. The ap
parent loss In revenue, they say, Is due
simply lo the complex bookkeeping used
by the Treasury. It Is, however, a fact
that revenues of the Treasury Depart
ment aro falling off and will continue to
fall oft during the months of July and
August. This Is necessarily so because
of the unusual expenditures made from
appropriations following the opening of
the fiscal year.

brisker and the tone was strong. The
gilt-edged section was harder. Treasury
bills to tho amount of 5,197.000 were re
paid last week nnd 407,000 new bills
were sold. Revenue returns Indicate, that
that there has been paid to tho Bank
of .England an aggregate of 88,000,000
against the discounting of premoratorlum
bills and advances to tho Allies.
Americans were Irregular, Canadian
