reflecting tho weakness in Wall street

strong. The company not only Is running
full blast, but Is now beginning to be
benefited by higher prices for some of Its
products. Interest this week will bo di
rected to the meeting on Thursday, when
action will be taken on tho quarterly

state Commerce Commission today re
fused to grant a general increase in
freight rates on lumber between various
points In the Mlsslslppl and Ohio River
valleys and ordered canceled new tar
iffs of the Baltimore and Ohio and other
railroads proposing the advances.
The Increases declared unreasonable
were:
On yellow pine, southwestern territory
to St. Louis, East St. Louis and Thebes,
III.; Little Rock and Pine Bluff, Ark., to
Mississippi and Ohio crossings.
Hardwood lumber from the yellow pine
blanket to St. Louis and Cairo, III,
All lumber from north of the Arkansas
River to St. Louis, East St. Louis, Thebes
and Cairo.
Yellow pine from points on the Kansas
City Southern to St. Louis; from stations
on the Texas and Pacific Railway to
Cairo; from stations on the Rock Island
to Louisville, Ky., and Cincinnati, -Ohio.

BALTIMORE, July 19. Approximately
12,500,000 worth of contracts for equipment
were placed today by the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad Company. The orders call
for 200) steel hopper cars and 60 cars for
passenger service, and immediate delivery
Is stipulated.
The hopper cars will have the most
modern equipment for quick unloading
and will be built by the Cambria Steel
Company, the Pressed Steel Car Company
and the American Car and Foundry Com
pany. The Pullman Company received
the order for the passenger coaches.
