TODAY will mark the 23th anniversary
of the founding of St. Timothy's Hos
pital, which will be celebrated with a
lawn fete on the grounds of the hospital.
The hospital was founded by the late
J. Vaughn Merrick and his wife. Mary
Wagner Merrick, as a memorial to their
parents and was called "Memorial Hos
pital and House of Mercy of St. Tim
othy's Church, Boxborough." It was
opened In the Wagner homestead at the
corner of Ridge and Jamestown avenues,
and has grown Into the present large In
stitution. There will be rustic booths for the sale
of home-mado candy, cakes, fancy arti
cles, cut flowers and plants, a fish pond
In charge of the Junior Aids nnd a tent
for fortune telling. From 4 to 5 o'clock
the anniversary exercises will be held,
with the Bev. James B. Halsey, chair
man ex-offlclo of the Board of Managers,
and Dr. Barton Cook Hirst as the prin
cipal speakers, Supper will be served at 5
o'clock. The fete will be In charge of

The lawn fete to be held tonight and
tomorrow night on the grounds of St.
Slatthlas' Church, Bryn Slawr avenue,
Bala, of which the Bev. SI. J. SIcCabo
Is rector, promises to havo many Inter
esting features.
Large and small sized American flags,
Interspersed with small Irish flags, to
gether with many varied colored lanterns
strung around tho lawn, will lend a pa
triotic and picturesque air to the grounds
Whlto trellis booths at which fancy ar
ticles, novelties, cakes, candles, potted
plants, cut flowers and cigarettes nre to
brt sold, will be prettily decorated with
flags and electric bulbs and presided over
by prominent women and young girls of
Bala and Cynwyd. A fish pond will also
be arranged for the amusement of the
youngsters. Among other interesting
features of the fete will be an orches
tra, consisting of violin, harp, cornet and
drum, which will render musical selec
tions each night, while In a roped-off
space on the lawn the young people of
the parish will enjoy the novelty of
dancing on the green for the benefit of
the school building fund.
