Any club could use Iceland Hobbs, the

Bob N'oyland, Its star pitcher. Hobbs
and Nrylntul have been voted tho two
best all-round ball players that West
Point ever produced, but both will accept

Hobbs was offered a Cincinnati con

Induced to sign It. Though several other
players have better averages than Hobbs,
whosn mark Is .3S0 for four years, the

excellent Judges to be the most natural

YALE CONCEDES ITS
VICTORY TO HARVARD
Points Made by Roos on Track
Protested and They Are Can
celled by Blue.
NEW HAVEN, Conn.. May 17.-The
Yale track management nnnounced last
night that It hnd no desire to bo declared
tho winner of the annual Harvard track
meet on Saturday through "any mere
technicality" over tho question of the
eligibility of V. V. Iloos, the shot-putter,
and accordingly tho flvo points made by
Itoos have been declared canceled. This
action gives tho meet to Harvard, 63 to
51 points.
The announcement reads as follows:
"It had been the understanding of the
Ynlo University Track Athletic Associa
tion that questions oi eligibility ns be
tween Harvard and Yaln In their dual
track games wero to bo decided under
the deed of gift covering the competition
for tho cup. As this was construed by
tho Yalo management Itoos wns consid
ered eligible to compete In this year's
meet, and therefore entered.
"It nppears, however, that Harvard's
understanding Is that the provisions of
tho deed of gift repectlng eligibility have
beon superseded by other eligibility rules
under which Itoos would havo been In
eligible. Yale has no desire to he de
clared the winner of the meet and there
by secure permanent possession of tho
cup through any more technicality, and
hereby cancels the points made by Boos
ln tho meet."
