A FINAL tour of the shops where the most
fascinating accessories imaginable for the
summer wardrobe are on display preceded a
general exodus o suburban homes, and by the
end of next week nearly every one who Is for
tunate enough to possess a country place will
have opened It; then begins the usual suburban
season with polo, golf and tennis aplenty, fol
lowed by tea and very Informal dances at the

For chopping excursions the severely tailored
two-piece suit holds first favor, and many smart
models can be observed of a busy morning. Mrs.
A. J. Antelo Devereux looks particularly well In
a trotteur of this type. The material Is a Scotoh
plaid, a black-and-white checked ground being
croaeed by a red stripe. The skirt Is circular,
and has a seam over each hip, and Is topped
by a pea jacket devoid of trimming and slashed
at each side. The note of simplicity Is carried
out by the wide roll collar of white linen, and
the large black sailor hat trimmed at the right
side with two flat quills.
Mrs. Edwin N. Benson, Jr., wears a modish
wolklnr suit of navy blue serge. The skirt Is
given fulness by the Inset of several pleats at
each aide, and the Jacket, with iu circular flare.
Is given a military aspect by the us of gold
braid, which forms the collar, and round metal
buttons, two of which finish off the belt at the
back. The young matron's hat is of black
hemp, with a transparent brim, and has two
spear-Jhaped ornaments as Its sole trimming.

mode, Is shirred at the waist Una and again
lower down, where a second belt of the taffeta
encircles the hips. The waist is In jumper
effect, with sleeves of blue chiffon and a per
fectly plain flat collar of whlto satin. Miss
Bruner's hat Is a fetching model of blue straw,
to match the tone of her frock, and Is trimmed
with dark blue and brilliant orange flowers and

A boyish Norfolk suit In a becoming Bhade
of green Is worn by Miss Kitty Brinton. Her
hat 1 of straw, In a cafa au lalt shade, faced
with satin, and has iwo curled quills twisted
flat on the crown. On cool days Miss Brinton
wears a good-looking neckpiece of white fox.
Miss Eulalle AVllIcox Is wearing for warm days
a becoming frock of navy blue wide-striped
taffeta. The skirt Is quite voluminous, the ful
ness being held In plaits over the hip. A hand
made collar of white and a wide-brimmed hat

ing Club's spring racn meet, ono of the best
known social ovents of tho spring season, have
been coming In rapidly, and to Judga from nil
appearances society will turn out In full forco
next Saturday afternoon. Tho races will start
nt 2:15 o'clock, nnd tho program Includes six
events, several of which nro almost ns old ns
tho club and as well known. Notably among
them Is tho first ovent, tho raco for farmers'
workhorses and ridden only by bona fldo fnrm
crs of Delaware, Chester and Montgomery
Counties. Tho other ono la tho famous cross
country race, which has been run over tho
club's picturesque courso slnco 1S69.
This raco Is ono of tho most popular ovents In
tho fox hunting circles, and a win Is very
highly prized. Tho pick of local hunters nnd
steeplechasers' nlways turns out for this event
nnd thero nro usually qulto a few out-of-town
entries to contest with tho local talent for tho
prize. Tho raco is run over a post and rail
courso extending out nnd beyond the club's
grounds over the hills and dales of the sur
rounding country and In constant view of tho
spectators. It Is a splendid raco from tho on
loOKcrs' point of view, ns tho club Is situated
upon u hill and the riders nro seen often like
tiny red-coated mannlklns In the distance, ap
pearing and disappearing behind tho natural

owing to tho Meadowbrook Club raco meet at
Long Island, It Is expected that thero will be

habit of making this trip each year. Society

THREE ARTS CLUB
A Number of Artists Will Take Part in
Remarkablo Program Tonight.
A soiree artlstlquo will be given tonight at
the New Century Drawing Room by the Aux
iliary of the Three Arts Club. Among the
foreign artists will be Miss Nelda Humphrey,
a soprano, and Madame Yager, both of the
Metropolitan.
Among Philadelphia favorites will be Miss
Nan Faulkner, contralto; Miss C. Adella Barn
hill, soprano; Mr. Henry Hotz, basso, and Mr.
Oswald F. Blake, tenor; Miss Hilda Schoch,
of the University Players, will give a scene
from "Daddy Longlegs" and other professional
members of the auxiliary will give a humorous
one-act playlet, "Pot of Broth," by Mr. Yates.
Tableaux and dances from the "Masque of
the Primitive Peoples" will be an Interesting
feature.
The program will be closed with the singing
of MUss Humphreys' "God Bless You, My
Dear," by Adrladne Holmes Edwards, New
York's popular composer of lyrics, who is a
member of the board of managers of the
Three Arts Club. A dan.ee will follow, with
music from the Belfleld Country Club.
