group, or the sd-cnllcil "war stocks," and
trading: was very actlvo throughout tho
short session. Very little attention wna
paid to the standard Issues. During tho
- early morning wide price changes wero
rrmde by tho "war stocks," n. number
making gains ranging from ono to three
points, and some evon going higher?
At the top point reached by tho spe
cialties, traders and outsiders took profits
freely and a reaction followed, virtually
the whole group falling below tho final of
yesterday, losses In many enses being
n.uito large. Hallway Steel Spring was
dno of the' most Important In this division,
swinging upward more than 4 points be
fore realizing sales Were met, and then
the stock lost all of Its advance.
About the heaviest profit-taking oc
curred In Westlnghouso Electric, largoly
as tho result of rumors that the com
pany had received only one largo war or
der, and this for slightly mora than 427,
000,000. News of another bombardment of
Dunkirk by the Germans v. as given as tho
principal cause for the decline, as It
brought a Inrgo amount of selling orders
from abroad.
United States Steel common was one of
tho strong spotn and acted as a brako to
the recession. There was persistent buy
ing of this stock and It closed with a not
gain of onn point for tho day.
Tho weekly statement of tho condition
of the members of tho Now York Clear
ing House Association was a very Inter
esting document. It showed very plainly
tho Increased activity In the stock mar
ket during tho Inst week. Actual loans
roso 130,G04,000, while average loans
showed an Increase of 17,009,000.

loans and deposits were shown In today's
New York bank statement, the actual loan
expansion belnr 10,501,000. while tho two
classes of deposits Increased In tho aggregata

The Board of Directors of the Railway Company has today declared effective the
Extension Agreement dated April 14. 1015.
Holder of rrrelpta for Notes depoalted with May 1, 1818, coupon attached
should present the same on or sifter May 1. 1915. to Central Trust Company of New
York. Bt Wall Street. Kew York, for payment of the Instalment of Interest then
due on said Notes. Coupons for said Instalment of Interest not deposited under the
Extension Agreement should bs presented, for payment at the same time and place.
Deposit receipts and coupons -when presented should be accompanied by certificates
of ownership as required by the Internal Revenue Department under the Federal
Income Tax Law,
( Holders of receipts upon surrender thereof to the Depositary will be entitled to
reielve Notes duly extended as In the Extension Agreement provided, to the face
amount mentioned In the receipts, with the additional Interest coupons annexed.
The time for further deposits has been extended to and Includlnr Mar 4th
Mli. Noteholders who have not already done so, should, In their own Interest, de
posit their Notes at once with CENTRAL. TRUST COMPANY OF NEW YORK. M
WALL STREET. BW YORK CITY, the depoetary named in. Extension Agreement
in order to secure the benefits thereof. The prompt co-operation of all Noteholder's
