THE ROMANCE OF WORK, a pageant, and
one of the greatest undertakings of its kind,
will be held in Convention Hall, Broad street
nnd Allegheny avenue, on Saturday evening,
May 8, at 8:15.
The affair will be given by the Vacation Com
mittee, and will be presented by many members
of tho Vacation Savings Fund. This savings
fund society, which has its headquarters In
Alcott House, at 1428 Arch street, woe started
some three years ago by a number of women
who were anxious to arrange a way In which
working women, by saving even a very small
amount of money each week, might accumulate
sufficient funds to cover vacation expenses.
The venture was taken up by women all over
the city with great zest and very happy results.
Entertainments and dances are given from time
to time by the members.
The pageant on May 8 will Illustrate the evo
lution of women's work, its past development.
Its present fields and Its future promises. There
will be five episodes embodied In the pageant,
each picturing some distinctive period In the
history of woman's labors, to be followed by a
symbolic dance depleting the spirit of the epi
sode. Episode I. Work among the Indians; Fire
Dance. To symbolize the element around which
the Industries of the primitive women were
grouped.
Episode IX. Work In Colonial Times; Spinning
Dance; Minuet. Showing the traditional dignity
and the conventionality of the times.
Episode III. Work In the South before the
War; Military Dance. Suggesting spirit of 1S60.
Episode IV. Modern Industrial Period; Steam
Dance. Symbolizing the spirit of modern in
dustry. Showing power and energy under con
trol. Episode V. Ideals for the future; Dance of
Happiness; Dance of Children; Dance of Maid
ens. A number of girls very prominent In social
circles will take part in the affair, many of them
debutantes of the season.
A large number of prominent Catholic eccle
siastics, foreign consular representatives and
others equally well known in Spanish and
other circles throughout the city will be present
tonight at a reception to be given In honor of

Mr. William H. H. Charlton, the bridegroom's
brother, will bo his best man, and tho ushers
will be Mr. Howard J. Steel. Mr. Alfred L.
Twells, Mr. Edward C. Bell and Mr. Brower
Kelly. The ceremony will be followed by a
reception at the home of the bride's parents.

CUNNINGHAM BANNON
St. Thomas Aquinas' Church, 17th and Morris
streets, wns the scene of a very pretty wedding
this morning, when Miss Catherine Marjory
Bannon, daughter of Mrs. John A. Bannon, of
1720 South 19th street, became the bride of Mr.
Aloyslus J. Cunningham, of 1720 South ISth
street. The bride, who was given In marriage
by her brother-in-law, Mr. Oden Boalt, wore a
lovely gown of white duchesse satin, made en
train, and trimmed with duchesse lace. Her
tulle veil was arranged In cap effect, held In
place with orange blossoms. She carried a
Bhower bouquet of bride roses and lilies of the
valley.
She was attended by MIsb Agnes Cunning
ham, as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were
Miss Agnes Grace Bannon and Miss Marie Can
non. Mr. Cunningham had for his best man his
brother, Mr. Edward Cunningham, and the
ushers were Mr. Peter Roe and Mr. William
Foy. The ceremony was performed by the
Rev. John Phelan, and was followed by a Nup
tial Mass.
JONES-BRYAN.
A pretty home wedding will take place tonight
at the residence of Mrs. Emma Bryan. 1601 WeBt
Montgomery avenue, when her daughter. Miss
Blanche K. Bryan, will be given In marriage
by her grandfather, Mr. Charles Ramsberger,
to Clayton H. Jones, of 1513 Montgomery ave
nue. The ceremony will be performed by the
Rev. Herbert R. Burgess, pastor of the Mutch
more Memorial Presbyterian Church, 18th street
and Montgomery avenue. A gown of white satin
and Brussels laos and a tulle veil edged with
lace, arranged on a dainty cap, with orange
blossoms, will be worn by the bride. She will
carry a shower bouquet of lilies of the valley
and bride rosea. Miss Ursula Simon will be
maid of honor. Mr. Jones will be his brother's
best man. The service will be followed by a
reception. Mr. and Mrs. 'Jones will live In this
clty on their return from a lengthy wedding

o'clock this afternoon In the Church of Our
Lady of Meroy, Broad street and Susquehanna
avenue, when Miss Lulu R. Miller, daughter of
Mr. Henry Miller, of Reading, Pa., will become
the bride of Mr. Lawrence A. Crosson, son of
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Crosson, of 2325 North
19th street The rector, the Rev. Father Gerald
Coghlan, will perform the ceremony. The
bride's father will give her In marriage, and
she will be attended by Miss Esther Roessler,
of Reading, as bridesmaid. The bridegroom's
best man will be Mr. Charles L. Elsesser, The
ceremony will be followed by a dinner at the
Hotel Adelphla. Mr. and Mrs. Crosson will re
turn from their wedding journey In the fall and
will make their home In Philadelphia.
