portance, fbr It la becoming quite the thing for
mothers to "bring them out" unofficially at the
summer watering places. Miss Gertrude Pan
coast, who will be presented by her parents In
the autumn, appeared recently In a stunning
khakl-colored suit cut on simple girlish llnea.
The coat, which was belted, was set off by a
rolling collar of white handstltched linen. Miss
Pancoast's hat wbb a wlde-brtmmed sailor ot
taffeta in a shade matching the suit and
trimmed eolely with two brown quills on each
aide.
With a smart tallleur of king's blue cloth
Miss Katharine R. Hunter wears a low flat
Bailor hat ot blue and black straw.
One of the aeason's debutantes, Mlsa Uabei
Wurta Page, is wearing a girlish and becomlns
trotteur of wh'te Berge. The skirt la quite
plain wth a Blight flare, and the boyish coat Is
belted and haa pockets both above and below
the belt. Miss Page wears a small trlcorno hat
of black hemp with a white wing at the side.
An attractive and modish afternoon gown of
smoke-gray chiffon over a foundation of sou
silk Is being worn by Miss Josephine C. S.
Foster. The skirt U formed of a series of grad
uated flounces, each flounce being finished oft
with a band of black velvet. Straps of black
velvet extend over each shoulder and also form
the girdle. A closs-flttln hat of cerise hemp
complete the costume.

with large daisies.
A debutante of this season, Miss Helena Rob
inson, appeared recently in a smart trotteur ot
deep blue cloth. The skirt, which flared ellghtly,
had bias bands ot dark blue taffeta, forming
flounces. The short bolero jacket waa finished
off with a number of small plaits in the back
and two rows of small garnet buttons. A
rather large blue straw hat with a rolling brim
completed the attractive costume.
Miss Katherlne G. Seeler, another pretty deb
utante, wears a becoming afternoon frock uf
Copenhagen blue taffeta. The skirt Is tucked
and is extremely full, and the short Jacket Is
worn over a blouse of cream-colored lace. Mlsa
Seeler's large sailor hat of navy blue straw was
trimmed with small French flowers.
A handsome debutante-to-be, Miss Agnes
Allen, has adopted a striking costume for aft
ernoon wear, The bodice of her sown Is ot a
Bakst pattern silk, cut on the constricted lines
which were favored In our grandmother's day,
Below this the skirt, of peacock blue silk,
shirred and corded, falls in voluminous folds.
An oddly shaped pointed hat of violets with n
single pink rose as trimming sets off the costume.
