Declare Statements of Dr. Rico
Should Not Bo Taken Seriously.
Congregational mlnlstcis nt this city
declared today that the attack made at
their meeting jestenlay by tho llov. Dr.
I'M win nice on tho "Wily" Sunday cam
paign In tbla city, is ho remarked that, In
lila opinion, It didn't "amount to shucks,"
should not be taken seriously.
Tho Ilev. William Henry Medlar,
moderator of tlio Congregational Confer
ence end pastor of the Glenolden Con
gregatlonal Church, said
"Doctor Itlca Is not a competent Judge
and It Is not fair to Judge the effects ot
the Sunday campaign by what he says.
Ha was an opponent of the revival be
fore it ever opened In Philadelphia, and
he has been ever since Personally. I
don't see how any minister of the Gospel
can bring himself to oppose such good
work."
Samuel T, Wilson, treasurer of the
Congregational Conference and a secre
tary at the tabernacle during the Sunday
campaign, was no less, vehement In his
denunciation ot those who have opposed
the Sunday revival.
"Why should the adverse testimony of
a few men be taken," he said, "when
there are thousands of others who can
give proof aa to the far-reaching results
of the campaign?
"I can assert confidently that more
than 84 per cent, of (he Sunday converts'
cards were valid, and not one single case
of a "fake" has come to my personal
attention. The testimony of such men as
the nev. Forrest B. Dager, ot the Re
formed Cplsoopal Church, should be
taken. He had 913 added ta the member
ship ot hi church and attributes the wis u
majority of them to the Sunday cam-1 to..tots.
