CEMENT RATES REDUCED
Tho State Public Service Commission today
crnnted the petition of six cement companies
fcr a teductlon In tho joint freight rate on
cement frompolnts In the Naiareth region to
AUenlown The commission reduces the rate
from 70 to (VI cents per ton, taklne effect April
10, ard api Ilea to the following; railroads: Le
high Valley, Central ot New Jemey. Irpnton,
I.ehlgh ami New Ihigland, Bangor and Portland.
Financing
Methods of financing do
not effect value, they effect
price.
Here Is one method fre
quently adopted,
Funds are needed. An
issue of bonds or stock is .au
thorized of a par value in
excess of requirements.
This issue is offered to a
chosen few at a price less
than par, but high enough
to produce the sum required.
They in turn offer parts of
the issue to others at further
profit which the public ulti
mately pays.
At last the public gets its
chance to pay the interven.
ing profits for a security on
which a higher rate of in
terest or dividend is paid at
the source than the ulti
mate owner receives.
Think this over and then
send for our booklet, '
