FAMOUS ST. SOPHIA MOSQUE IN CONSTANTINOPLE
Tho only photograph over taken inside a Mohammedan placo of worship. The faithful
are seen at noon prayer. The domo of the mosque is supported by four arches, which
m turn are supported by 107 gigantic and beautiful pillars of green marblo and red
porphyry, with capitals in Byzantino style. It is believed that in the vaults under tho
church there lie superb treasures of classical art thrown there by Ottomans when
they conquered Constantinople.
