confined principally to Pennsylvania
nail road shares. Transactions In this Is
sue were mostly In odd lots, such ns
two, three, flvo and six shares, thus
making It ttppenr thnt small Investors
were picking It up. ' Tho opening trans
action was at 62 E-16, up 1-16 from the
flnnl of yesterday. In the Inter tradlnp,
however, the advance was lost and It
sagged 3-16 below tho closing of yester
day at 52 1-16. At tho closo It regained
to B2M. Fifteen shares of Lehigh Val
ley sold nt 6, up $1 from tho last pre
vious sale, which was mado on Mon
day nt 63. The company's general 4V5
per cent, bonds, on tho other hand,
changed hands nt 91H, off 75 cents from
tho last sale,

13.1 per cent, was earned on tho common
stock. Tho common stock was offered

day, with no takers, whllo tho proferred

An outstanding fcaturo was du I'ont in
ternational Powder, for which KU was
bid, against 92 bid yesterday, when It wns
offered nt 91. Tho stock was quoted

In their monthly statements to custom
ers today stock brokerage firms charged
from 4U to 6 per cent. Interest on mar

Just before the closo 17 shares of Elec
tric Storage Battery sold nt 49. up $1
from the opening transaction. Western
New York and Pennsylvania general 4s
changed hands at 77, up $1 from tho first
sale of the day.

name as a candidate for re-election to
tho Governing Committee of tho Phila
