change nt tho Metropolitan Opera House,
In regard to Its uttendance, for although the
orchestra and gallery were crowded to over
flowing with music-lovers, many of tho boxes
Btood empty, muto evidence of the passing of
tho season. But while the boxes here nnd
there looked desolate others were filled with
those who were unable to resist the attrac
tion of Madame Sans Gene.
Mrs. Alexander Van Rennselaer Is In the
South, but her recently arrived brother,
Anthony J, Drexel, entertained In her box,
and held quite a reception after his long ab
sence abroad.
.Mr. and Mrs. Tower entertained a number
of young persons, Including their daughters,
Miss Helen Tower and Miss Gertrude Tower,
the latter of whom was handsomely gowned In
apricot satin with graceful draperies of tulle
cascading from the shoulders. The frock had
a wide panel of satin at the back. Her sister,
Miss Helen Tower, wore a graceful little gown
of pale pink satin with an overdress of crystals.
Miss Lois Cassatt looked charmingly quaint
In a frock of pompadour taffeta with a wide
girdle of peacocV clue. The voluminous skirt
was quite short and had quillings around the
bottom. The upper half of the bodice was of
tulle In a'sl'.ade harmonizing with the girdle.
Mrs. Harry Wain Harrison, In a box with
Mrs. Charles Custls Harrison, Jr., was radiant
In white satin and crystals. Her flat coiffure
was bound by a Jeweled fillet. Mrs. Charlie
Harrison's gown of lustrous black satin af
forded a striking contrast. Mrs. Cornelius
Stevenson entertained In the Stoteabury box.
Miss E, Owen Martin, who entertained In het
father's box, wore an exquisite gown of orchid
colored pussy willow taffeta, with a flounced
skirt and trimmings of chiffon and cream lacs.
A girlish frock of white satin with a wide
girdle of royal blue velvet and crystal trim
ming on the bodice was worn by Miss Kitty
BrlnUm.
Mrs. Albert L. Smith appeared In a charming
gown of Venetian red brocaded velvet, a shade
which proved most becoming to her type. Mr.
and Mrs, Walter Jeffords had Beveral guests In

gavo an organ recital after luncheon and
Buppcr. Donations wero received from all parts
of the city. It Is the Intention of the directors
of tho hospital to use whatever may provo
available and to sell tho rest.
