ARABIAN NIGHTS
Final Entertainment at Made-iu-Amcrica Feto a
IIurc Success.
The Arabian Nlsht Fete and Tableaux given
last night In Horticultural Halt as a culmina
tion to the three days' Made-In-Amerlca Fair
was a fitting climax to this wholly successful
undertaking, and the workers who had striven
with such untiring energy felt tbetr efforts well
rewarded by the audience which packed the
hall to the doors. Indeed, even the charming
wife ot ono of our plutocrats, arriving rather
late, found herself unable to secure a seat. Tho
performance began with the Oriental scene. In
which Mrs. J. Kearsley Mitchell was enthroned
as queen, surrounded by her slaves and at
tendants, Mrs. Lawrence Townsend's address
being omitted. In this scene a number of dances
were exeouted by well-known society people.
In the Intermission, Lilian Emerson, a child
dancer, performed wonderfully.
The tableaux were given with a fidelity to de
tail which was quite remarkable and most
artistic. As the curtain was drawn the pictures
were revealed set In a huge gotd frame, with
a neutral background, which made the figures
stand out in bold relief. A pleasant surprise
was the presence of Miss Angelica Brown and
of Maurice Roche, who came over from New
York to appear in the poses. Miss Brown posed
prettily as "1S30," and Mr, Roche appeared with
Miss Hannah Randolph in "Please," a fetching
study of a harlequin and columbine. Following
the tableaux supper was served, during which
Miss Perot and Mr. Taylor, professional dancers,
performed!
The dancing competitions proved most thrill
ing. Mrs. Gardner Cassatt and Andrew
Wheeler, Jr., were finally awarded the decision
for the waits, Mr, and Mrs, Robert alpln Ervln
for tho one-step, find for the fox trot Miss
Margot Scull and Saundtra L. Meade proved th
winners.
