"THE ANGEL OF KENSINGTON" PREPARES FOR WINTER HARD ON POOR
Mrs. .M. W. Ketchum, who directs .the Richmond Soup Society and Relief Association, declares that
the call on their resources is the heaviest In 16 years. The condition of children in her neighborhood,
she says, is pitiable. The society conducts a kitchen at 2562 Ann street. It has made arrangements to
open earlier than usual this year; as men are out of work everywhere and must be fed somehow.
LANCASTER AVENUE HAS COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE FOR CHILDREN
This magnificent tree, 65 feet high stands at 40th street and Lancaster avenue ready for its myriad lights to be turned on by Mayor
Blankenburg next Monday. It was a present from Anthony J. Drexel. Gifts from it will be distributed in automobiles on Christmas, day
by members of the Lancaster Avenue Business Men's Association. They are now actively at work collecting the presents It is called
a community Christmas tree because it is intended for the many children and numerous families of this particular neighborhood
