In Mr. Blddle's high-powered ear when it
skidded sharply and collided with a telegraph
pole. Tha bg machine was badly wrecked amt
llowland wan hurled through the wlndihletd,
breaking a collar bone aa well as on finger and
various other minor bruise. Blddle, strangely
enough, was unhurt. It appears he landed In
a sitting position, and the only thing that was
Injured was his dignity.
It will bo recalled thai "Billy" Bowland
broke this name collar bone only a few months
ago In a collision of automobiles new Atlantlo
City. He and Blddle were also In tho fatal
wreck of the Bar Harbor express, which cost
the lives of no many prominent young Phlla
dclphtans. On that occasion a huge splinter
of wood was driven through Ilowland'a nb
tlomen. He calmly pulled It out himself atj
ho eat on the railway track, but ho was lali
up In the hospital for months afterwards. It
has been In Innumerable lesser catastrophes,
mostly connected with automobiles, and one or'
