bride and groom will spend their honeymoon

Intyro and Slay Vokes, Is entering Its fourth

Miss Saxono Slorland, who plays Lucy in
"The Rivals," has had an odd and contradic
tory career as regards her nationality. Hav
ing studied in I'm Is for the stage, she nat
urally spoke French exceptionally well when
she began her work, and was mistaken for a
French girl. Later she scored success In "The
Cat nnd the Cherub," and to her umusement
found thnt It was generally supposed that she
wm of Chinese birth, a mlstako reiterated later
when she scored such n triumph In "The Yel
low Jacket." In reality she Is an Engllslr glrlt
hut, as she says, has become an American,
and counts this as her home.
One of the scenes In "A Perfect Lady," in
which Rose Stuhl Is appearing at the Hudson
Theatre, New York, depicts lending citizens of a
small community In Kansas succumbing to the
strains ot a ragtime tune and Indulging in a
turkey trot. living Berlin composed n new
'ugtlme melody for this purpose, and presented
It to SIlss Stahl, It will be used regularly at
performances hereafter. '
Frederick Truesdale, who gives a finished
performance of the villain, making his career
uniformly black. In "On Trial," was born In
SInntclalr. N. J. After his graduation from
Yale University he Joined Daly's repertoire
company, playing young men and character
parts in Shakespeare, remaining with the com
pany for three years. Then he was seen as
Trip In "Tho School for Scandal." After thnt
hi was In comic opera, playing the comedian
and even dancing In tho ballet In "The Uelsha,"
"The Circus Gill" nnd "La Toupee." At the
close of his comic opera runs he toured Eng
land with William It. Crane, then was seen In
"Ben Hur," nnd later succeeded Bruce SlacRae
as Doctor Wntson In "Sherlock Holmes." He
wus leading man to Lily Langtry, and later'
appeared In "The College Widow," "The Three
of Us" and "Slaggle Tepper."

Brian Hooker, who collaborated with Professor
Parker In the opera "Jlonu."
,The opera, which was selected from fifty-six
submitted by musicians and authors In nil parts
of tho United States, Is a pageant, and will bo
iroduced July 1, 1D15, by the American Opera
Association, of Los Angeles.
Selwyn & Co. have Just signed contracts for
the Spanish rights to Slargaret Slayo's "Baby
Sllne" and "Twin Beds." As soon ns transla
tions have been completed both of these plays
will bo produced In Madrid.
Jack Squires, with the operetta "Sari," was a
newspaper man and magazine writer before
he went on the stage. He had lost his sight
temporarily while writing, nnd on n ship bound
for Europe where he was going to receive treat
ment, he wrote Borne lyrics. In London he sold
them to a musical comedy producer and then
wrote a libretto which was produced. When his
sight was restored, he went on the stage.
