Mrs. Frank Leslie, publisher, editor and uuthor, died last night nt her homo at tho Bherman Squaro Hotel. She had been In falling health for nbout six weeks. Miss Mar querito Linton Glentworth the writer, was with her when she died. The Baroness de Bazusm, as Mrs. Leslie preferred to be known, was born In New Orleans, La., In 1SJ1. She was of an old French Huguenot family. Her father gave her a liberal education at his home, tutoring her principally In French, Span ish, Italian, German and Latin. At the age of 13 she began writing for publica tion, and her work attracted somo atten tion, notably that of Henry Sartor, who woa known by his pen name of Frank Leslie. Shs married Mr. Leslie, and when ho died In 1SS0, leaving his estate J300.000 In debt and his 16 publications In the hands of trustees, his wife undor the law as sumed the name of Frank Leslie and took personal charge of the business. By her personal management sho suc ceeded in placing the properties on a paying basis. In the middle eighties Mrs. Leslie mar ried William Wilde, a brother of Oscar Wilde. Sept. 19.-JosIah Whltp, president of Joslah White & Sons Company, nlso founder and principal owner of tho Marlborough-Blenheim Ho tel, died yesterday at his residence, on Vassur tlquure, here, Ho wus 71 years old. Mr. White was one of a band of pioneer hotel men who early In the SO's Inaug urated the winter and spring seasons nt the shore, Atlantic City having been prior to that tlmo a summer resort solely. Ho erected the Hotel Luray, which was desttoyed by fire In 1002. In 1885, with Ills three sons, he built the Marlborough and six years later the Blenheim, of which they have remained owners and managers ever since. Mr. White was a Friend and hla an cestors were prominent members of this lellgious society In New Jersey und Penn sylvania. In 1662 Mr. Whito married Mary Klrby Allen, of Haddonfleld. N. J. Mr. White and the late Clement A. Grlacom and Ituae H. Clothier, and7 the three girls whom they respectively married were intimate filends and each of these three couples lived to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
