HOWARD PITTSBURG, PA They are made of the hest Sheet Copper rolled into-a perfect Scroll Cylinder or Tube, and have an inside and outside surface. These Conductors present the following ad vantages over all others in use: Firff—They are made of pure Cop per, the best available material for Ugh ning Conductors. Second—They haves larger conducting sur face than any ottier. Third—The sections are connected more per fectly than others Fourth—They have never failed to protect buildings on which the) are placed. fifflh—The• have been approved by practical and ecientific men wherever introduced. oixth —TI3 ey are the cheapest and most dura ble conductor offered to the public. WHAT IF3 THE BEAT yGR?i OF LIGHTNING • CONDUUTORw7 "A Conductor should be perfectly round and as smooth as possible." This is the language of Prof. Henry, of the smithsonlan Institute, Washiogton city.who is accredited with know ing more on the subject of Atmospheric Elec tricity than any man living, WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIONS TO IRON RODS? They soon rust (which destr - ,ys their con ducting power,) do n. t present sufficient sur face and ihree• fourths of all Iron Rods erected, do not remain in order over one season. Their great weight and the action of the wind and rust, Boon break the connection: the rod will settle in the ground and leave the rod _discon nected in which case the Electricity would be more likely to pass from the rod into the build ing than jump over the broken connection. Where Conductors run over metal roofing, Copper is far superior to Iron, being eight times agreater conductor than metals gener ally used for roofing; whereas Iron would not be more than equal. WHAT ARE THE ORIECTIONS TO "GAL. VANIZED IRON ROD'3," OR THOSE COATED WITH ZINC? The same that are given to Iron, as they do not posses any superiority over an ordinary iron rod. For the rapid conducting of electric ity, a rod free from any exciting cause; or gal vanic currents, will carry oft an electric dis charge from the clouds with greater certainty than any other.
