by the 11th Army Corps, In the Want charge oa . Longetreet's corps. They. are said to have at first slightly faltered, but when Gen. Howard cried to them to remember Chancellorville, they rushed into the fight like infuriated demons, and the whole line of the enemy gave way before them. During the early part of to-day, up to noon, when our informant left, there had been no general battle fought, though heavy skirmishing had been going on all the morning, resulting in heavy leas to the enemy, and the capture of over 5,000 additional prisoners. - In all these skirmishes, which were conducted under the direction of General Meade, our arms ware entirely successful, but the enemy studiously avoided any general engagement, and it was thought that there would be none beforelo-morrow, when it ~was said to be the intention of General Meade to press the enemy along tjse whole line. The pru -,,dence and skill displayed by General Meade in the management of his army, and the strategy evinced by him in coping with Lee, had already won the confidence of his troops, and his presence drew forth the strongest demonstrations of attachment. The army evinced a determination to win at all hazards, and had been strongly impressed by the officers with the dreadful consequences that would ensue to them, should disaster occur to our arms in the coming con flict. The enemy woe rapidly concentrating his troops, and General Meade's whole army had reached the field of battle. General Couch was expected to preen down through the CuMberland Valley on the enemy. Midnight.—Over 800 rebel prisoners have just passed down Pratt street, under guard. More are expected to-night. 5,050 Rebel Prisoners at Baltimore. BALTIMORE, July 5. • Twenty-three hundred prisoners have just passed along Baltimore street, from the Central Railroad depot, and 1.900 more are shortly expected, which will make 5,050 for to-day. This is but a small in stalment, it is stated, of all who are to come. While passing through the streets some parties had the bad taste to raise cheers of triumph., which induced the rebels to give their peculiar yell and cheer for Jeff. Davis. In addition to the above number, 830 passed through on Friday night, which will make the entire number so far nearly 6,000. Important Capture. BOSTON, July 2. The testimony is every day accumulating that Mlshler's Bitters Is performing wonders, and its lune is gradually but rapidly spreading over the continent. Mminata--Sir About Christ:oast, my youngest daughter, a girl of fifteen years of ege, was attacked with paralysis, which confined her to her bed, where she. lay perfectly helpless and suffering the greatest pain. I pro cured the attendance of our medical men in the neighbor hood, but, in spite of their beet efforts, she grew daily worse and worse. On the 26th of lard month, by the advice of Henry Mint:itch, I came to see you, and, from what you told me, I concluded to try your Herb Bitters. I took a bottle out home with me, and my daughter commenced taking it. She has used that bottle, and the effect is so great that I want to take out some more with me, and I am confident now that what you told me was perfectly:true, and tHt my daughter will shortly be entirely recovered. " Tea AGE" will advocate the principles and policy of the Democratic party, and will, therefore, necessarily favor the restoration of the Union ➢a it was, and defend the Constitution of the United Stafee, and that of this Com monwealth. It will freely and fairly dieruss all legitimate subjects of newspaper comment, including, of course, rine prmemi neatly at this time, all questions connected with the existing unhappy condition of our country. It will fearlessly criticise the public acts of public see cants, and dettCnd the legal and constitutional rights of in dividual citizens of sovereign States, against essaulte from any quarter. It will seek to awaken the minds of the people to a proper sense of the actual condition of the Republic—to present to them, truthfully, the fearful perils in which we stand as a nation—to exhibit the magnitude of the task that is before them, if they worthd check our downward progress—and to inspire them with patriotic determination to apply THE HEM= for our national ills. In •brief it will, in all things, aim to be the faithful ex ponent of Democratic principles, and to render Itself worthy to be an organ of the Democratic party, under whose auspices our country prospered NO long and so well. The restoration of that party—the party of the Constitu. tion and the Union—to power, in the legislative and execm tire governmental branches of the States and of the Union, we believe to be necessary to avert anarchy, end the utter ruin of the Republic. To, contribute to that restoration will be our highest aim. The News, Literary, Commercial, and other departments, will receive due attention, and will he so condtmted as to make "Ton Aar," worthy of the support of the general reader. Air-The many difficulties now surrounding an enter prise of the magnitude of that in which the undersigned are engaged, require them to appeal to the public for a generous support, and ask for "THE AGO" a liberal patron age and extended circulation . The present state of the preparatory arrangements war rants the expectation, that the first number of the Daily will eppeer before the close of the coming month, (Febru ary, 1863.) .
