GODEY’s LADY’S BOOK FOR. 1863
GREAT LTTERAKY AND PICTORIAL YEAR.
Tbe publisher of Godey’s Lady's Book, thankful to that
public which has enabled him to publish a magazine for
the last thirty-three years of a larger circulation than any
in America, has made au arrangement with tbe most popu
lar authoress in this country—
MARION HaRLAND,
Authoress of “Alone,” “Hidden Path,” “Moss Side,”
“ Nemesis,” and “ Miriam,”
who will furnish a story foi every number of the Lady’a
Book for 1803. This alone will place the Judy's Book in a
literary point of view far ahead ol any other magazine.
Marion Harland writes for no other publication. Our other
favorite writers will all continue to furnish articles
throughout the year.
THE BEST LADY’S MAGAZINE IN THE WORLD, AND
THE CHEAPEST.
THE LITERATURE
Is of that kind that can be read aloud iu the family circle,
and tbe clergy iu immense numbers are subscribers for the
Book.
THE MUSIC
is all original, and would cost 25 cents (the price of the
Book) in the music stores; but most of it is copyrighted,
and cannot be obtained except in “Godey.”
OUR BTEEL ENGRAVINGS.
AU efforts to rival us in this have ceased, and we now
stand alone in this department, giving, as we do, many
more and infinitely better engravings than are published
in any other work.
GODKY’S IMMENSE DOUBLE SHEET FASHION
PLATES.
COBTAISIRO
From five to seven full length Colored Fashions on oach
plate. Other magazines give oDly two.
FAR AHEAD OF ANY FASHIONS IN EUROPE OR
AMERICA.
Godey’s is the only work in the world that gives these
immense plates, and they are such as to have excited the
wooder of publishers and the public. The publication of
these plates cost
$ 1 0,0 00 MORE
than fashion-plates of the old style, and nothing but onr
wonderfully large circulation enables us to give them.
Other magazines cannot afford it. We never spare money
when the public can be benefited.
These fashions may be roiled on. Dresses may be made
after them, and the wearer will not subject herself to rldin
cnle, as would be the case if she visited the large cities
dressed after the style of the plates given in some of our
so-called magazines.
OUR WOOD ENGRAVINGS,
of which we give twice or three times as many as any other
magazine, are often mistaken for steel. They are so far
superior to any others.
IMITATIONS
Beware of them. Remember that the Lady’s Book is the
original publication and the cheapest. If you take Godey,
you want no other magazine.
Everything that is useful or ornamental in a house can
be found in Godey.
DRAWING LESSONS.
No other magazine gives them, and we have enough to
fill several large volumes.
OUR RECEIPTS
are such as can be found nowhere else. Cooking in all its
variety—Confectionery—the Nursery—the
Laundry—the Kitchen. Receipts upon aU subjects are to
be found in tbe pages of the Lady's Book. We originally
started this department, and have peculiar facilities for
makiog it most perfect. This department alone is worth
the price of the Book.
LADIES’ WORK TABLE.
This department comprises engravings and descriptions
of every article that a lady wean.
MODEL COTTAGES.
No other magazine has this department.

Dr. WM H. Gregg— Dear Sir: In February, 1861, I was
afflicted with the sugar diabetes, and for five months I
passed than two gallons of water In twenty-four
hours. I was obliged to get np as often as ten or twelve
times during the night, and in five months I lost about
fifty pounds in weight. During the month of July, 1861
I procured two bottles of Constitution Water, and in two
days after using It I experienced relief, and after taking
two bottles I was entirely cured, soon-after regaining my
usual good health. Yours truly, J

Wm. H. Gregg A Co :
Gents: I freely give yon liberty to make use of the fol
lowing Certificate ofthe value of Constitution Water, which
I can recommend lo the highest manner.
My wife, who was attacked with pain in the shoulders,
whole length of the back, and in her limbs, with Palpita
tion of tbe Heart, attended with Falling of the Womb,
Dysmeoorrb®, and Irritation of the Bladder. I called a
physician, wh > attended her about three months, when he
left her worse than he found her. I then employed one of
the best physicians I could find, who attended her abont
nine months, and while she was under his care she did not
suffer quite as much pain; he finally gave her up and Raid,
“ her case was incurable.” For, said he, “ she has such a
combination of complaints, that medicine given for ooe
operates against some other of her difflenltlea.” About this
time, she commenced to use the Constitution Water, aud
to «ur utter astonishment, almost the first dose seemed to
have the desired effect, and she kept on improving rapidly
under its treatment, and now superintends entirely her
domestic affairs She has not taken any of the Constitu
tion Water for about four weeks, and we are happy to say
that it has produced a permanent cure.
WM. M. yAN BENSCHOTEN.

Dr. Wm. H. Ghegg :
Dear Sir: I have for several years, been afflicted with
that troublesome and dangerous disease—Gravel—which
resisted all remrdies and doctors, uotil 1 took Constitution
Water, and you may be assured that I was exceedingly
pleased with the result. It has entirely cured me, and you
may make any use of my name you may see fit in regard
to the medicine, as I have entire confidence in its efficacy
Yours truly, POND STRONG.
THESE ARE FACTS ENOUGH.
There is no class of diseases that produces such exhaust
ing effects upon the human constitution as Diabetes and
Diseases of tho Kidneys, Bladder and Urinary Passages
and through a false modesty they are neglected until they
are so advanced as to be beyond tho control of ordinary
remedies, and we present the
CONSTITUTION WATER
to the public with the conviction that it has no equal In
relieving the class of diseases for which it has been found
so eminently successful in caring; and wo trust that we
shall be rewarded for our efforts in placing so valuable a
remedy in a form to meet the requirements of patient and
physician.
