Precept to me directed, requiring iue, amnug other things,
to make public Proclamation throughout my Bailiwick,
that a Court of Oyer and Teruiiuer and Geueral Jail Deliv
ery; also, a Court of General Quarter Sessions of the
Peace and Jail Delivery, will commence in the Court
House, in the City of Lancaster,in the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, on the THIRD MONDAY IN NO' EMBER,
1859: In pursuance of which precept, PUBLIC NOTICE IS
HEREBY GIVEN, to the Mayor and Aldermen of the city
of Lancaster,in said county, aud all the Justices of the
•peace, the Coroner, and Constables of the said city and
county of Lancaster, that they be then.and there in their
own proper persons, with their rolls, records and examina
tions, and inquisitions, and their other remembrances, to
do those things which to their offices appertain, in their
behall to be done; and also all those who will prosecute
against the prisoners who are, or then shall bo, iu the Jail
of the Baid county of Lancaster, are to be then and there
to prosecute against them as shall be just.

Sessions: The Collegiate rear is divided into two ses

Rooms and Clothing: The rooms are furnished with all
heavy articles, and comfortable bedding: but the students
must bring their own towels, brooms, and basins. Stu

DISCIPLINE : The discipline is mild, decided, and impar

Religious Worship : Each student is required to attend
religious service every Sabbath, tn whatever church he or
6be may wish, or parents designate. The Bible is read
every morning in the school without sectarian comment.
Lectures on Agricultural Chemistry: Lectures will
be delivered during each term, on the nature, origin, and
characteristics of soils and subsoils; also, on the applica
tion of Chemistry to Practical Farming.
Merit and Demerit : A record is kept of each recitation,
which is graded from 1 to 10—10 being the highest mark,
either for recitation or deportment.
The Manner of Conductin > the Recitations: In all
the different branches, whichever one thestudeut may be
studying,'he is required to give a clear demonstration of
his subject, and assign a reason for each step as he pro
gresses. Ail the sciences are taught on tho principles of
analysis and induction, so far as possible.
