fliVr, We believe there was a paper at tie
time published, called the Washington Senti
nel. Wonder whether it is still in existance ?
We have not seen a number of it fur several
weeks. If there is such a paper still published
wo should like to see it tind its way to our
Sanctum once in a while. Or if it has cut our
acquaintance, we should like to know.
The Foreign News
The steamship Baltic, from Liverpool,
reached New York on Thursday, bringing
dates to the 2d inst. The intelligence is of
the highest interest. The Treaty of Peace
was signed at Paris on Sunday, the 30th ult.
Paris was illuminated, and throughout France
and England the rejoicings were general and
enthusiastic. A number of questions in re
gard tothe disposition of affairs in the East
remain s for future settlement. Some difficulty
was created in the Peace Conference by Count
Ca - rour calling attention to the state of Italy.
In Engliand Parliament had re-assembled, and
Lord Palmerston had officially announced
the conclusion of peace. In London the Lord
Mayor had issued a proclamation to the same
effect. In the Crimea the armistice had been
continued, and intimate relations had been
established between the iirmies so recently
hostile. From Italy we have dark news. The
rigor of Austrian tyranny had been greatly
increased, and in Parma and . Tuscany the
most terrible despotism prevailed. Much
sickness prevailed among the allied troops at
Odessa, and upon vessels in the Mediterrane
an. From India, we learn that the annexa
tion of Oude had been peaceably effected, and
Lord Canning had been sworn into office as
Governor Gen erol.
DEMME
We copy from the Argus and Democrat, the
official Democratic paper published at Madi
son, Wisconsin, the following announcement
as to the strength of Mr. Buchanan in Wis
consin. The Argus and Democrat says:—
Oar announcement, a few days since, of our
preference for James Buchanan—Pennsylva
nia's great statesman, as the Democratic can
didate for President, has been endorsed by
nearly every Democrat we have seen. There
is but one expression of opinion, which is—
" Give us Buchanan and we can carry the
State by 10,000 majority. Such is the uni
versal Democratic sentiment in this portion of
the State, and such is the purport of letters
from distinguished Democrats ip various coun
ties received within a fen , day?. If a clear
and unmistakable public sentiment is regard
ed by our National Delegates, Mr. Buchanan
will receive every vote in the Cincinnati Con
vention. We hardly think our delegates will
venture to disregard such a sentiment. We
•repeat the unanimous expression of all classes
of Democrats in the State—;" Give us Buchan
an and we will carry Wisconsin by 10,000
majority."
20...TheLondon Correspondent of the Penn
sylpanian, of the 29th of March, says:
Mr. Buchanan has introduced his successor,
Mr. Dallas, to the diplomatic circle at St.
James',and thereupon took his departure on
Thursay evening for Paris, where, we under
stand, he may remain for three weeks, and
thence return to England, and sail from Liv
erpool for the United States on either the 16th
or 19ftibf April, bearing as we trust the ol
ive branch to your shores. As the nominee
of the Democratic party, for the office of Pres
ident, his election is considered certain. His
thorough knowledge of both British politics
and the personal status of each member of the
cabinet, renders him perhaps the first man ,in
America to successfully soften down the as
perities existing between her and England.
There is. some uncertainty with regard to
the time When Mr. Buchanan sailed for the
11. States._ The above account fixes the 16th.
or 19th ofApril-whilst other accounts say
that hoiviroUld sail in the Arago on the 9th
instant.

J. A. RHODES, Esq.: Dear Sir—As I took your medicine
to sell on consignment, "no cure no pay," I take pleasure
in stating its elects as reported to me by three brothers
who live lu this place, and their testimony Is a Lair speci
men of all I have received
W. S. CONKLIN told me—"l have taken nine bottles of
Christie's Ague Balsam, and continually run down while
using It until my lungs and liver wan Congested to that de
gree that blood discharged from my mouth and bowels, so
that all thought it impossible for me to live through anoth
er chill. The 4yetorb too did all they could fur me, but
thought I must die. Nothing did me any good until I got
Rhode's Bever end Ague Cure, which at once relieved me
of the distress sad nausea at my stomach and pain in my
bead and bowels, and ',minced a permanent cure in a short
time."
H. M. CONKLIN says .-1 had been taking medicine of as
good a duo t e r US we have in our county, and taksai ally
quantity of quinine and specifics without any good result,
front 7tstb August to 17th December. But seeing how nice•
ly it operated on my brother, I got a bottle of IttioDES'
FEVER AND AGUE CUIIE, which effected a permanent
cure by tieing two-thirds of a battle."
S. 31. CONKLIN was not here, but both the other broth
ers say his case was the same as IL 31's. I Bold the Mtdi.
clue to both the same day, and the cure was. speedy from
the mute small quantity, and I might so specify.
Yours with respect, A. HUNTINGTON.
The above speaks for itself. Good proof trs it is, it is of ao
better tenor thou the MA Mtn/4Y of like certificates / have
already published, and th. still greater amuant that is enntiar
sally pouring in to our.
One thing more. Last year I had occasion to Caution the
Public in these words:—
I notice one firm who have taken our of my general
circulars, substituted the name of their nostrum for toy
medicine, and then with brazen impudence end their pam
phlet with the exclamation, 'Let the proprietor et any oth
er medicine say as much if he dares,' " ac.
Now I take pleasure in saying that the Caution retorted
to the same " Dr. ,Christie's Ague 1311.111a1D," that is men
boned in the above certificate.
There are several other industrious people who are ap•
plylog to theirpoisooeus treats all that 1 publish about my
Fever and Ague Clore, or Antidote to Malaria, except the
Certificate of Cures, and the Oertificate of the celebrated
Chemist, Dr. Jetties 1L Chilton, of N. Y., In favor of Its per
featly HARMLESS CHARACTER, which Is attached to
every bottle. These will always serve to distinguish my
medicine from imitations. JAS. A. RHODES,
