Z Steam Planing Mills. f Dear Sir: You ask me for my comnion of " Sil ver's Mineral Paints," which you have put on my Machine Shop and Planing Mill. I gi;ii you With pleasure my full and hearty recommendation of it as a preventive of Fire communicating from Chim neys, or from adjoining buildings. The Paint which you put on my roofs, has now become as hard as slate, and . 1 feel as secure from Fire, in this direc tion, as is possible. A few weeks after the roofs had been painted, I made an experiment on two or three shingles by placing them in the furnace under the boilers; the result was, that the portion uncov-- ercd was entirly consumed, while the painted part was apparently sound, though upon examination the wood was found to be charred; the Paint how ever was firm and but little blistered. I consider this as severe a test as your Paint can be put to, and under the circumstances rdo not hesitate to cdmmend it as an invaluable preventive against Fire. Respectfully, &c.
