SILVERS MINERAL PAINTS.
TIIE wonder of the- age, nature's own produc
tions. These Paints differ from all others in
the market; they are not clays; they require little
Oil flow easily, and cover with a heavier body
than white lead. They neither crack nor frieel,
and dry readily, making an ENAMEL or STONE.
OLORS.—,We have seen different colors, viz :
three Browns, two Chocolates, Black and Yellow,
and by combination make every variety and shade
of color.
BODY.—These Paints are superior in body (or
covering property) to any yet discovered; and
pound for pound will cover double the surfake of
white lead, zinc, or other rnetalic Paints.
IRON.—To Iron they furnish a perfect protection
agiinst'kust, for they contain metal, which, like
lead acts destructively on the iron; in fact this
Paint makes iron doubly valuable for. building pur
poies.
BRICK WORK.—They give to house Walls a
much heavier coating than other paints, and if
sanding is required, nothing holds so firmly or fin
ishes so well with it.
OLD ROOFS.—Give us a roof, ever so old and •
leaky, and Silver's Mineral Paints will make •it
cheaply new and more enduring than it everlwas.
SHIPS using this extraordinary Mineral as we
prepare it for them, will be proof against the ac
tion of hot suns, worms and salt water.
:CAPITALISTS and BUILDERS are invited to
make strict scrutiny into the merits of these Paints.
They will find a very great reduction might be
miide in the cost of Painting. These Paints are
ptirely mineral; all clays and other impurities are
whslied out in preparing them for the roarket.—,
They cost but half the price of white lead, and the
same quantity will cover twice the surface, and last
sir times as long which in fact reduces the price to
one-twelfth. Climate has no effeit on this Paint,
add is equally valuable in the cold Canadas or our
sunny Florida.
DIRECTIONS.—Use Linseed Oil, mix ai thick
a you can, and use as other paints. These paints
need but little dryer, and for priming and second
cOating in all house work they will be found far
cheaper and more durable than lead.

Important to Farmers & Thresh
ing Machine Makers.
THE subscriber respectfully informs the. public.
that he has lately completed a TRIPLE POW
ER INTERNAL GEARED HORSE POWER, I
which outrivals any other in use, It ia made en
tirely of Iron, both Frame and Gearing. The Jour
nals are Cast-Steel--its weight is 600 lbs. On trial
it has proved itself capable of performing from 50
to 100 per cent. more work than other Powers with
the same labor of the team. It is warranted to
hold 8 horses.
I have also completed a combined THRESHER
AND CLEANER, which is capable Of Threshing
and Cleaning from 300 to 500 bushels of wheat per
day, with from 6 to 8 Horses, and an equal number
of hands. 4 horses can thresh with it from 100 to
200 bushels per day of wheat, and 400 to 500 , of
oats. It is very convenient for those who follow
Threshing, and for two or more farmers to twin in
company; it is more convenient to move than any
machine in use. The Machine stands on the wag
on while threshing—the Power is loaded on the
same wagon in moving—two horsesii'are sufficient
to move it; it will save enough labor in threshing
2000 bushels to pay its extra cost. It will thresh .
in the field or by a stack as conveniently as in a barn.
The cylinder and concave can readily be adjusted
so as to thresh with equal facility both tough and dry
grain. It is free from the complication and liability
to get out of order of other machines of the kind,
and of less cost—price $lOO,OO.

NO. 272, MARKET ST., PHILADELPHIA,
every day at ilk o'clock, A. M. (except the Sab

and on its return leaves err' hotel, Columbia, at

P. M., and arrives at Philadelphia at 4 o'clock, in
time to take the eastern line at 5 o'clock for New

The cars are attached ,to the Way s Train, and
run in the rear, which gives them a decided pie
lerence over any other cars in case of a collision
or a run off, which under the best of management
will sometimes occur. Our passengers and cars
must, from their position in the train, be compara
tively free from danger.
The subseribers are aware of the monstrous
monopoly against which they have to contend, but
they are determined to encounter it, and relying
upon the encouragement 61 all who are opposed to
monopolies and in favor of low rates of fare, they
will run this line at the following rates, viz :
THREE CENTS PER MILE,
no more nor no less, under any circumstasces.
These are the lowest rates at which passengers can
be carried over the road under the present rates of
toll charged by the State, which are two cents per
mile on each passenger, and $4,92 on each car,
In order that our friends may not mistake "01.111.

Dr. Iflarchisrs Uterine Catholicon
This declaration is Lsed on the fact that it will
cure more than nine-tenths of a class of very prey
alent.diseases, known as
FEMALE COMPLAINTS,
and which have heretofore resisted the skill and
exertions of the most accomplished Physicians of
all countries, to a degree beyond that of almost
every other malady to which the human family is
heir. It has already received the approbation and
liberal patronage of very many prominent members
of the Medical Faculty in the United States, willing
to abide the truth, and having due regard for the
Welfare of their patients, and is in every way worthy
the confidence of the afflicted as a 'successful - , sale
and cheap remedy. Of this, additional proof will
be found in the, pamphlet, to which the attention of
Ladies and Practioners is respectfully invited.
-; This medicine has never been introchfced by
empty puffs and misrepresentations, nor is it in-'
tended that its present popularity shall be sustained
by any medium but its merits and the approbation
of the public. The Catholicon is not a "cure-all,"
but.is intended expressly for those complaints inci

Dr. Long's Celebrated Botanic
Syrup. ,
Warrented a Pure Vegetable Compound.
IS a certain, safe and effectual remedy for remo
ving all diseases arising from an impure condi
tion of the blood, or from an injudicions use of
mercury, &c. It stands unrivalled for the cure of
SCROFULA or Kings Evil. Disease of the bone, tu
mors, stubborn ulcers, ulcers of the throat, neck,
nose and legs, white swelling, disease of the spine,
kidney-complaints, chronic rheumatism, pustular
eruptions on the face, arms and body, erysipelas,
dropsical affections, mercureal and syphilitic effec
tions, sick head ache, dizziness, all constitutional
disorders, and all diseases arising from early indis
cretions, &c., &c. This medicine has a specific
and most salutary action upon the liver and spleen
and will in a short time if persevered in cure the most
obstinate case of liver complaint. Dispepsia or in
digestion, ii) nine cases out of ten is caused by
,an
unhealthy condition of the liver &c.; this being the
cause, it is evident that by the use of the Botanic
Syrup, the digestive organs must again resume
their healthy functions, and renewed health, vigor
and strength will inevitably follow.
Many persons are diseased for the want of their
blood being purified. Thousands of persona are de
•stroying their constitutions by neglecting to apply
, a proper remedy; to all such the Botanic Syrup will
be of intrinsic value as a certain and effectual means
of restoring them to their. usual health and vigor
Valuable respectable cirtificates of cures could be
adduced and inserted here if the . inventor of this
invaluable medicine deemed it expedient to do so.
He does not consider it prudent, nor is he willing
to make a public show DA use of respectable
names of individuals who have been thoroughly
cured of their complaints, as a means to enhance
the sale of the medicine, but would respectfully
request all persons afflicted with any of the above
diseases, to give the Botanic Syrup a fair - trial and
they still soon find to their greatest pleasure, that
what has been here inserted in regard to the value
of the medicine is true. Persons using the syrup
will find it agreeable, pleasant and harmless. It
will not in any event injure the Constitution, but will
otherwise assist nature in restoring, giving an en
tire healthy change to the system by completely
driving out those impurities which is the chief
cause of disease.
It is put up in pint bottles, price 60 cents per
bottle, or 6 bottles for $2,50. Full directions ac

THE GUILT SECRET AT. LAST DISCOVERED
For the Cure of Consumption
NEW SYSTEM AND NEW REMEDIES
NUTTALL'S SYR IA C UM. The cure for
Coughs, Colds, Sore Throat, Hoarsenes s,
Tickling in the Throat, Spitting Blood, Diffic ult
Breathing, Bronchitis, Incipient, Confirmed, and
Tubercular Consumption. In three bottles. Each
one particularly adapted to each one of three
stages of Consumpton. To the afflicted the ap
pearance in three bottles of Notion's Syriacum is
a new era in Medicine, from its novelty and direct
opposition to the old, absurd and inconsistent one
bottle system ; while its success, prepared in this
manner, (each bottle containing a different prepare
tion,) in curing tile afferent stages which charac
terize Consump•ion, has established the welcome
truth of the curability of every stage of pulmonary
Consumption.
ry-Physicians approve of it because it is based
upon correct Physiological and Pathological prin
ciptes.
111 - The Public approve of it, because it is com
mon sense, and because they know from sad ex
perience, that one preparation will not cure the
three stages of Consumption.
)rr The suffering, disappointed, and discouraged
invalid approves of it, because its principles hold
out a reasonable hope, and when he uses Nuttall's
Syriacum, his hopes are realized.
If he is in the first stage of Consumption and
uses the first bottle, his expectoration, difficult and
painful, becomes free and easy, his cough soon
gets well, the soreness, tickling in his throat, in
flammation, pain in his breast, side, head, back,
joints, and limbs arc removed.
If he is in the second stage and uses the second
bottle, his fever leaves him, his disturbed slum
bers become sweet and refreshing, his night-sweats
vanish, his expectoration, copious and bloody,
assumes a healthy appearance, and at length dis
appears, his bowels become regular, his appetite
returns, the flush in his cheek disappears, the
burning heat in the palms of his hands and soles
of his feet, are felt no longer, his coughpow centres,
he recovers and is well.
If he is in the third stage, and uses the third
bottle, his Diarrhtza gradually ceases, his weak
bowels become strong, his cough and other bad
symptoms disappear, (and it the patient is a female,
her monthly periods return,) his feeble digestion
becomes strong and vigorous, his stomach recovers
its power and tone, and creates new, rich, and'
nourishing blood, his strength returns, his wasted
body is clothed with flesh, his life is saved, and he,
is restored to health.
Each bottle of Nuttall's Syriacum has the symp
toms of the stage for which it is intended printed
in front of the wrapper, whereby every invalid
knowing his own symptoms, can judge for himself
which bottle he requires, consequently no mistake
can occur in selecting the proper medicine.

The True Digestive Fluid or Gastric Juice!
PREPARED from Rennet, or the fourth Stom
ach of the Ox, after directions of BARON LIEBIG:
ihe great Physiological Chemist, by J. S. Hough
lon, M. D., Philadelphia, Pa.
This is 11 truly wonderful remedy for Indigestion,
Dyspepsia, Jaundice, Liver Complaint, Constipa
tion, and Debility, curing after Nature's own
method, by Nature's own Agent, ihe Gastric Juice.
Half a teaspoonful of Pepsin, infused in water,
will digest or dissolve, Five Pounds of Roast Beef
in about two hours, out of the stomach.
PEPSIN is the chief element, or Great Digesting
Principle of the Gastric Juice—the solvent of the
food, the purifying, preserving and stimulating
agent of the stomach and intestines. It is extracted
from the digestive stomach of the Ox, thus form
ing an Artificial Digestive Fluid, precisely like the
natural Gastric Juice in its chemical powers, and
furnishing a complete and perfect substitute for it.
By the aid of this preparation, 'he pains and evils
of Indigestion and Dyspepsia are removed, just as
they would be by a healthy stomach. It is doing
wonders for dyspeptics, curing cases of Debility,
Emaciation, Nervous Decline ' and Dyspeptic Con
sumption, supposed to be on thin verge of the grave.
The scientific evidence upon which it is based, is
in the highest degrec curious and remarkable.
SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE ! •
- -
Baron Liebig in his celebrated work on Aninta
Chemistry, says: ''An artificial Digestive Fluid,
analogous to the Gastric Juice, may be readily
prepared front the mucous membrane of the stom
ach of the calf, in which various articles of food,
as meat and eggs, will be softened, changed, and
digested, just in the same manner as they would
be in the human stomach."
Dr. Pereira, in his famous treatise on " Food and
Diet," published by Fowler & Wells, New York,
page 35, states the same great fact, and describes
the method of preparation. There are few higher
authorities than Dr. Pereira.
Dr. Combe, in his valuable writings on the
" Physiology of Digestion," observes that "a dim•
Minion of the due quantity of the Gastric Juice is
a prominent and all-prevailing cause of Dyspepsia;"
and he states that "a distinguished professor of
medicine in London, who was severely afflicted
with this complaint, finding everything else to fail,
had recourse to the Gastric Juice, obtained from
the stomach of living animals, winch proved com
pletely successfull."
Dr. Graham, author of the famous works on
"Vegetable Diet," says "Itis a remarkable fact
in phgaiology, that the stomachs of animals, mace
rated in water, impart to the fluid the property of
dissolving various articles of food, and of effecting
a kind of artificial digestion of them in nowise
different from the naturalzstigestive process."
AS A DYSPEPSIA CURER,
Dr. HOUGHTON'S PEPSIN has produced the
most marvellous effects,in curing cases of Debility,
Emaciation, Nervous Decline, and Dyspeptie
Consumption. It is impossible to give the details
of cases in the limits of this advertisement ; but
authenticated certificates have been given of more
'than 'lwo Hundred Remarkable Cures, in Pnila
delphia, New York and Boston alone. 'l'heso
were nearly all desperate cases, and the cures were
not only rapid and wonderful, but permanent.
It is a great Nervous Antidote, and particularly
useful for tendency to Billious disorder, Liver
Complaint, Fever and Ague, or badly treated Fever
and Ague, and the evil effects of Quinine,Mer
cury and other drugs upon the Digestive
Organs,
after a long sickness. Also, for excess in eating,
and the too free use of ardent spirits. It almost
reconciles health with intemprance.
OLD STOMACH COXPLAINTS.
There is no fort of Old Stomach Complaints
which it does not seem to reach and remove at
once. No matter how bad they may be, it gives ,
instant relief ! A single dose removes all the un
pleasant symptoms; and it only needs to be repeated
short for a time to make these good effects perma
nent. Purity of Blood and Vigor of Body follow at
once. It is particularly excellent in cases of Nausea,
Vomiting, Cramps, Soreness of the pit of the
Stomach, distress after eating, low, Cold state of
lie Blood, Heaviness, Lowness of Spirits, Des
dondency. Emaciation, Weakness, tendency to
Insanity, Suicide. &c.
Dr.IIOUGHTOIT 8 PEPSIN is sold by nearly
all the dealers in Site drugs and Popular Medicines,
throughout the United States. It is prepared in
Powder and in Fluid form—and in prescription
vials for the use of Physicians.
PRIVATE CIRCULARS for the use of Physicians,
may be obtained of Dr. Houghton or his Agents,
describing the whole process of preparation, and
giving the authorities upon which the claim of this
new remedy are based. As it is not a secret remedy
no objection can be raised against its use by PhY - 1
