The following certificate from Col. Samuel G. Messrs. A. B. & D. Sands: Gentlemen: — Having used, and witnessed the efiects of your ex* cellent preparation of Sarsaparilla on different per sons in various parts of the Southern country, viz : Virginia, Louisiana, Texas and Mexico, I feel much pleasure in stating the high opinion enter* tained of its great medicinal value. In my own case it acted almost like a charm, removing speed ily the enervated slate of the system, and exciting in the most agreeable manner, a tonic ana invigo rating influence. Your Sarsaparilla is highly approved and exten sively used by the United Stales army in Mexico, and my cousin Gen. Zachary Taylor, has lor the past five years been m the habit of using it, and recommends ihe same ; he and myself adopted ihe article at the same lime, and it is now considered an atmosi indispensable requisite in thevirmy. In conclusion I would say, that ihe belter it is known the more highly it will he prized, and I trust that us health restoring virtues will make it generally known, throughout ihe length and breadth of our widely extended country. Yours very respectfully, S. G. TAYLOR, U. S. Consul to New Granada. REMARKABLE CURE OF BRONCHITIS. New York, Feb. 17, 1848. .Messrs. Sands : —i/aving suffered many years with a disease of my throat, affecting ihe larynx, during which time I was treated by the most dis tinguished physicians in Europe and the United States, without receiving any permanent benefit, but all the lime my general health and strength declining, and the disease making fearful progress: caustic applications were used, and whatever else was thought most efficient for producing a cure ; but I am confident the deplorable situation I was in, the laryngitis being accompanied with phthisis and great difficulty in breathing, would have termi nated my life, had I not obtained relief through the medium of your invaluable Sarsaparilla. 1 must say, gentlemen, when I commenced using the Sarsaparilla I did not place much confidence in its virtues; and this will not surprise you, when j>otf are informed I had tired more than fifty different remedies during the past four years, without any success; but after taking your Sarsaparilla|a few weeks, I was obliged at last to to evidence. They have absolutely become the standard Medicine ot the day. They are purely vegetable and so admi rably compounded that when taken in large doses they speedily cure acute diseases, and when taken in small doses they operate like a charm, upon the most delicate, nervous female, and have raised numbers from their beds when all other remedies had tailed. We here refer to buta few of the many miraculous cures effected by the use of said Pills. Spinal Affection. —Anna Wood, of Rutland, Jefferson county, N. Y., was cured, after she had been confined to bed 5 years, with Spinal disease and Abscess of the Lungs. The bill of her regular Physician (Dr. Johnson, of Clay,) had amounted to $6OO. See circular. (Scrofula and Nervous Debility. — Mrs. Down, of Clay, N. Y., was cured of Dyspepsia, Nervous Debility, and Scrofulous affection of the head, after she had been confined six months and all other medicines had failed. Cough and Consumption Cured. —Wm. Bently, of Pickering, C. W., was cured of a severe cough after he had been confined to his bed for a long time, and was given up by the Physicians. He had. used most of the cough medicines of the day, and was supposed by bis friends and physicians to be in the' last stage of Consumption. Dyspepsia. —A. B. F.-jOrmsby, of Syracuse, N. Y., was cured of Dyspepsia, so severe as not to be able to tfork for two years. Wm. SICKLY AND UNHAPPY ’WIVES. Extract of a Letter from a Gentleman in Dayton, O. * t •* Dayton, May 1, 1847. ••Dr. A. M. Mauriceau —My Deaf Sir: ‘The Married Woman’s Private Medical Companion/ for which 1 enclosed one dollar to your address, came safely to hand. I would not have troubled you with these few lines, but that 1 am impelled by a sense ol* gratitude, for myself and wife, to give utterance to our sincere and heartfelt embtions. “ My wife has been perceptibly sinking for soma three years qr more, in consequence of her great an guish and suffering some months before and during confinement; every successive one more and more debilitated and prostrated her, putting her life in im minent danger, and which was, on the last occasion, > despaired of. I supposed'that this state of things was inevitable, and resigned myself to meet the worst. At this time (now about two months) I heard your book highly spoken of. as containing some matters reaching my case. On its receipt and perusal, I can not express to you the relief it afforded my distressed mind and the joy its pages imparted to my wife, on learning that the great discovery of M. M. Deso meanx provided a remedy. It opened a prospect to me which I little conceived was possible. No pecu niary consideration can over repay the obligations I am under to you for having been the means of im parting to ns the matters contained in ‘ The Married . WomauV Private Medical Companion.’ But for this, ere another year would have passed over my head, in all human probability my wife would have been in her grave, and my children left motherless.’ . Extract from a tetter. Competence and Health. 11 Lancaster, Pa., Oct. 24, 1847. “ My Dear Sir ? I know you will have the kind ness to bear with me in encroaching upon your time, while I acknowledge (in behalf of myself and wife) the obligations we feel ourfielyes under to you in hav ing made known certain matters, contained tn your most invaluable 1 Married Woman’s Private Medical Companion.’ It has been worth its weight in gold to’ me. If I express myself rather warmly, you will see that 1 can not do sp too warmly, when I inform you of the extent to which 1 have, through it, been benefited. I will state my situation when I obtained your book through the merest curiosity I look upon it as one of the most fortunate events of my life. I imd been married some ten years, and was the father of seven children. I was long straggling unceasingly, to the end that I might gain a moderate competency, but the results of ray utmost exertions at the end left me about where I was at the beginning of each year; and that only, with the most stinted economy, suffi cing with barely the necessaries of life. Finally, this constant effort was beginning to have its effect upon my health: I felt less capable to eridufe its continu ance, while I felt the necessity of perseverance. “ This constant, unceasing struggle.on my part was imperative, in consequence of the prostrated condi tion of my wife (with occasional intermission) for six years, much of the time confined to her bed, and of course incapable of taking the charge and manage ment of household affairs. Her condition arose from causes of which I was ignorant. Oh! - what would Thave given had I the six years to live over again ! What would my wife have given to have been spared the long days and still longer nights prostrate on a bed of sickness! all of which would have been avoided, had I then seen a copy of ‘ The Married Woman’s Private Medical Companion.”' From a Physician. DANGEROUS DELIVERIES, OBSTRUCTIONS, IRREGULARITIES, &C. How* many are suffering from obstruction or irreg ularities peculiar to the female .system, which un dermine their health, the effects of which they are ~ ignorant, and for which their delicacy forbids seeking medical advice! How many suffer from prolapsus uteri {falling of the womb), or from fiuor-albus (weak ness, debility, Ac., Ac.)! How many are in constant agony for many months preceding confinement! How many have difficult if not dangerous deliveries, and whose lives are jeoparded daring such time, will find in its pages the meanß of prevention, amelioration, and relief! Extract from a Letter. To those just Married.— 1 " Philadelphia, Nov. 29, 1847. “ Dr. A. M. Mauriceau : Had I known of the im nortant matters treated of in 'The Married Woman’s Private Medical Companion’ some years ago, bow much misery I might have escaped! I have suffered years from causes which you point out in your book, without knowing what to do. I obtained a copy, and found my case treated of. I trust every female will avail herself of the information contained in its pages.” Letters are daily received of this character, unne cessary to present. To those yet unmarried, but contemplating mar riage, or perhaps hesitating as to the propriety of incurring the responsibilities attendant upon it, the importance of being possessed of the revelations con - tained in these pages, so intimately involving their future happiness, can not be appreci&ted- It is, of course, impracticable to convey more fully the various subjects treated of, as they are of a na ture strictly intended for' the married, or those con templating marriage; .neither is it necesaair, since it is every one’s duty to become possessed of knowl edge whereby the sufferings to which a wife, a moth er, or a sister, may be subject, can be obviated. jy copies will be sent by Mall free of Postage co the Purchaser. rsp“ On the receipt of One Dollar, “ THE MAR'' RIED WOMAN’S PRIVATE MEDICAL COM PANION” is sent (mailed free) to any part of the United States.
