NO other Medicine has ever been introduced to
the public that has met with such unparalelled
success, as Dr. Soule’s Oriental Balm Pills. —
Having been but six.years before the public, and
the advertising small when compared with most
other medicines, yet they have worked their way
hito every State in the Union and Canadas. They
have absolutely become the standard Medicine of
the day. They are purely vegetable and so admi
rably compounded that when taken in large doses
they speedily cure acute diseases, and when taken
in small doses they operate like a charm, upon the
moat delicate, nervous female, and have raised
| numbers from their beds when all other remedies
had failed. We here refer to buta few of the many
miraculous cures effected by the use of said Pills.
Spinal Affection. —Anna Wood, of Rutland,
Jefferson county, N. Y., was cured, after she had
been confined to bed 5 years, with Spinal disease
and Abscess of the Lungs. The bill of her regular
Physician (Dr. Johnson, of Clay,) had amounted to
$6OO. See circular.
Scrofula and Nervous Debility.—Mrs. Down,

THERE was never, perhaps, a medicine brought
before the public, that has in so short a time,
won such a reputation as M’AXLIsTER’S ALL
HEALING OR WORLDS SALVE. Almost every"
person that has made trial of it, speaks warmly in
its .praise. One has been cured by it, of the most
painful Rheumatism; another of the piles, a third
of a troublesome pain in the side, a fourth of a
swelling, in the limbs, &c. If it does not give
immediate relief in every case, it can never do in
jury, bfe'ing applied outwardly. As another evidence
of the wonderful healing power possessed by thi?
salve, we subjoin the following certificate, from a
respectable citizen of Maidencreek township, in
this county.
Maidexc&sek, Berks Co., March 30, 1848.
Messrs. Ritter & Co.—l desire to inform you that
I was entirely cured of a severe pain in the back,
by the use of M’Allister’s All-Healing Salve, which
I purchased from you. I suffered with it about
twenty years, and at night was unable to sleep.
During that time I tried various remedies, which
were prescribed for me by physicians, and other
persons, without receiving any relief, and at last
made trial of this Salve, with a result favorable
beyond expectation. lam now, entirely free from
the pain, and enjoy at night a sweet and peaceful
sleep. I have also used the Salve since, for other
complaints, with similar happy results.
Your friend, John Hollenbacii.

Tetter —There is nothing better for the cure of
Tetter.
Burns —It is one of the best things in the world
for burns.
For Tumors, Ulcers , and all kinds of sores, it

If Mothers and Nurses knew its value in cases ot

do well to reflect before trusting their health, hap

of Physicians ignorant of this class of maladies. It
is certainly impossible for one man to understand
all the ills the numan family and subject to. Every
respectable Physician has his particular branch, in
which he is more successful than his brother pro

his time and study. Dr. Huhter is known to be

In all Christianized and civilized -countries, has caused a

BRANT’S INDIAN
PULMONARY BALSAM
Cura very manyoi the most strongly marked and developed
cases of Pulmonary Consumption — heal, tmdouilad case* of
ulcerated and diseased LUNGS —such hopeless cases as were
never before cured by any other medicine. So utterly hope
.less were some of the afflicted persons, as to have been pro
nouoced by physicians and friends to be actually dying
Some, who had their burial-clothes made, have been cured,
and yet live—others, who it was said would not live another
day, are now as well and hearty as they ever were.
It possesses all the cleansing.and purifying virtues nearly
as powerful and active as the preparation which we call
BRANT'S INDIAN PURIFYING EXTRACT. .
This-differs from thgt, because this possesses several other
Medications which are peculiarly adapted to, and are essential
ly necessary, to cure
Coughs and Consumptions,
and all diseases-of a pulmonary nature—such diseases .as
usunlly prove so fata* underordinary treatment, when they
attack the
Breast, Throat, Lmigs, and Heart,
This. BALSAM heals and cures Ulcers in the Lungs, and
else where tstefaaUy, as certainly and easily as the Purify
inq ExtractVwm and heals ulcers externally. This Bal
sam cures nine cases of Cough and Consumption oat of ten,
alter all .other remedies have failed to do good.
Thousands of Consumptions
and Chronic Coughs, abundantly prove its unfailing efficacy
in such diseases, and its undoubted curative power, and
soothing, healing properties, in Ihe following complaints and
diseases, viz.: fitting of Blood, Bleeding at the Lungs , Pain
in the Breast and Side, Night-Swats. Nervous Complaint *, Pal
pitation of the Heart, Cholera Infantum, Dysentery and Sum
mer Complaints in Children and Adults, Asthma, and ALL
FEMALE WEAKNESSES AND COMPLAINTS.
No remedy that has been offered to the public has ever
been half as certain end effectual in correcting ALL the inci
dental weaknesses and irregularities of the female sex. as
BRANTS PULMONARY lt makes no differ
ence whether the derangement be suppression , excess, or
other incidental weakness —it regulates ALL, by strengthen
ing the system, equalizing the circulation, and soothing Bnd
allaying NERVOUS IRRITABILITY. Sec our Pamphlets
for proof.
CONSUMPTION.
A Dying Woman Cured!
We state this cure to prove the power to sate life, when
this BALSAM is used, even after the person is considered
by physician and friends to be in the last stages of disease
—actually dying— and, in this case, so far gone that the
shroud and burial-clothes were bought. For the particulars
•if this case, and the respectable and undoubted proof of all
the circumstances and facts, we refer to our PAMPHLETS
* This cure was effected on Mrs. ZIBA DYKEMAN. of Ball
ton Spa, Saratoga Co., N. Y. We can prove, beyond a doubt,
many others almost equally as hopeless, and innumerable cases
of Coughs and Consumptions CURED, which were pro
nounced incurable by skilful physicians.
LIVER COMPLAINT.
See ihe cure of Dr. Hubbard, of Stamford, Ct., and others.
See the cure of T. S. Wilcox, merchant, of Attica, Wyoming
Co , N. Y., and many more, in our Pamphlets.
Dysentery and Summer Complaint
in Children and Adults are always cured. Weakly Children
will become fleshy, healthy, und hearty, and grow rapidly, by
the use of this BALSAM., „
No mother need ever mourn the death of her child by
Cholera Infantum, while teething,if BRANTS PUL
MONABY BALSAM be administered. It should be, tot
inch cases, given in larger than the ordinary doses.
PURIFY! PURIFY!
LIFE ami HEALTH urc in the BLOOD
Cleanse, Purify, and Regulate the Circulation, and
the whole body mil have health. The most wonderful
of all remedies to produce such a result, is
BRANT’S INDIAN
PURIFYING EXTRACT.
Yes, the desired result and efficacy will be produced by
the u*e of a smaller quantity of this Purifier than can be
effected by the uen ot a like quantity of any other remedy
in the world. (See our Pamphlets for proof.)
This Purifier is wholly prepared from Vegetables, and
cures the uonl, most obstinate , and long-standing diseases
of the blood, without puking, purging, sickening, or debili
tating. It Wean**.?, strengthens, invigorates, makes new,
healthy blood, and gives new vigor and new life to the wbqje
system.
BRANTS PURIFIER is FOUR TIMES CHEAPER
than any other remedy in the world, because
ONE DOLLAR’S WORTH
of it will effect a greater amount of cure than four dollars'
worth of sarsaparilla, or nny’other remedy, no matter how
large their bottles mny be. The important question for con
sumers to determine, is, how much more curative effect xoill a
dollar's worth of this Purifier produce, than a dollar's worth of
that sarsaparilla or other remedy. We might here «y, that
Brant's Medicines had cured, within the last year,
100,000 Persnns of Impure Blood Diseases,
and 25,000 Cases were considered Incurable
as some other pntent-medicine men are in the habit of say
Ing. If we should say so, who would believe us 7 This
however, we do say, and stand ready to prove by respectable
witnesses, that Brant’s Medicines have effected curesof
more diseases on living human beings, the past year, than
any other remedy in existence did during the same time.
How much will a Dollar’s worth CUR E P
Twenty large, deep Ulcers were cured by using only twelve
bottles of Brant's Purifier.
The following is the most wonderful and astonishing cure
that wa9 ever effected on a human being, by any medicine.
Horrid Scrofhla Cured.
Mb. J. B. Raskin, of Rome, Oneida Co., N. Y., certifies,
December 20th, 1846, that lie had been afflicted with Scro
fula lour years, and the last year confined to his bed, with
twenty large, deep, discharging Ulcebs— that hia neck
was eaten around from ear to ear—a hole was eaten
through his Wind-pipe, so that he breathed through the
hole—bis ear was nearly destroyed—the use of his arm
was wholly destroyed—and an Ulcer under the arm, as
large as a man’s hand, had nearly eaten through into his
Lungs—that he had used all kinds uf Sarsaparilla and
other medicines, to no benefit, and that he was not expected
to live, twenty-four hours when he commenced Brant’s
Indian Pumfyino Extract —that nine bottles of the
Puhjfying Extract healed and cured seventeen of the
twenty Ulcers he had when he commenced using it, and
that a few battles more effected a perfect cure. For full
particulars of this, and many other similar cures, see our
Pamphlets.
This Woqdppful {JURE
does not stand nlope as a monument of the great efficacy
of Brant’s Purifier, for we could giro almost unlim
ited evidence of other cures, well attested, if this wero
doubted. Thi9 cure is certified to by
Fourteen Kespectable Witnesses.
By Doct. Thos. Williams, one of the most respectable
physicians of Rome—by Messrs. Bissbll & Leonard,
wholesale and retail druggists—by Mr. G. R. Brown, pro
prietor and keeper of the West Rome Hotel—and by
eleven other witnesses.
Brant’s Indian Purifier
cures nil impure diseases of the blood, viz.: Scald-Head t
Snlt-llkcum, Rheumatism, Eruptions, Pimples on the Fact,
PiUs Riles, Ulcers, Costiveness, Mercurial Diseases, Liver
Complaint, Pains in the Bach, Side, and Limbs, Rush of.
Blood to the fiend, etc., etc. "*
internal uloers.
This cure is a triumph over the skill of the best physicians
in the city of Philadelphia, and is positive proof that
internal ulcers can be cured as easily as external, when
Brant’s PuRtFYiNO Extract is used. Mr. John Hepburn,
one of the most respectable gentlemen in Auburn, Cayuga
Co., .V. Y., informed us ia- Oct. 1847, that ho had been af
dieted with three Fissures or'ULCERs, so situated inter
ually as to allow of au examination, and thus furnish posi
tive proof of the fuut, and of their location. Ho said that
he hud spent one year in Philadelphia, under the.’profesaional
advice of die best physicians, and was obliged to return tc
cure or help, when. Dr. T . M. Hunt,
drugget, of Auburn, advised him to try Brant’s Purifying
Extract, and the use of seven bottles of it effected a perfect
cure.

MARRIAGE :
WHY SO OFTEN UNHAPPY.
THE CAUSES AND THE REMEDY!
Many and many a wife endures years of bodily
suffering £nd of mental anguish, prostrate and help
less, embittering her life, that of her husband, and
- hazarding the future welfare of her children, arising
from causes which, if known , would have spared the
suffering, the anguish to the wife, and to the hus
band embarrassments and pecuniary difficulties hav
ing their origin in being weighed down and
harassed in consequence of the sickness of the com
panion of his bosom.
How important that the causes should be known
to every wife, to every husband, that the dreadful
and harrowing consequences to the health and hap
piness of both may be avoided! Life is too short and
health too precious to admit any portion of the one to
be spent without the full enjoyment of the other.
The timely possession of a little work entitled as
follows has been the means of saving the health and
the life of thousands, as over
TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND
copies have been sold since the first edition was is
sued.
The author has been induced to advertise it by
the urgent 'and pressing request of. those who have
been indebted to its publication for all they hold dear
(that all may have an opportunity of obtaining it), and
who have favored him with thousands of lettere of
encomium, some of which are annexed to the adver

“ Dr. A. M. Maukiceau— My Dear Sir: ‘The

which I enclosed one dollar to your address, came
safely to hand. I would not have troubled you with
these few lines, but that 1 am impelled by a sense
of gratitude, for myself and wife, to give utterance
to our sincere and heartfelt emotions.
“ My wife has been perceptibly sinking for some
three years or more, in consequence of her great an

confinement; every successive one more and more
debilitated and prostrated her, putting her life in im

despaired of. I supposed that this state of things was
inevitable, and resigned myself to meet the worst.
At this time (now about two months) I heard your
book Highly spoken of. as containing somo matters

not express to you the relief it afforded ray distressed
mind aud the joy its pages imparted to my wife, on
learning that the great discovery of M. M. Deso

me which I little conceived was possible. No pecu

" My Dear Sir : I know you will have the kind
ness to bear with me in encroaching upon your time,
while I acknowledge (in behalf of myself and wife)
the obligations we feel ourselves under to you in hav
ing made known certain matters, coiwuluod in your
most invaluable ‘ Married Roman’s Private Medical
Companion.’ It has been worth its weight in gold
to me. If I express myself rather warmly, you will
see that I can not do so too warmly, when I inform
you of the extent to which I.have, through it, been
benefited. 1 will state my situation when I obtained
vour book through the merest curiosity I look upon
it as one of the most fortunate events of my life. I
had been married sopra ten years, and was the father
ofseven children. I was long struggling unceasingly,
to the end that'l might gain a moderate competency,
but the results of my utmost exertions at the end left
me about where I was at the beginning of each year;
and that only, with;the most stinted economy; suffi
cing with barely the necessaries of life. Finally, this
constant effort was beginning to have its effect upon
my health: I felt less capable to endure its continu
ance, while I felt the necessity of perseverance.
“ This constant, unceasing struggle on my part was
imperative, in consequence of the prostrated condi
tion of my wife (with occasional intermission) for six
years, much of the time confined to her bed, and of
course incapable of taking the charge and manage
ment of household affairs. Her condition arose from
causes of which I was ignorant. Oh! what would
I have given had I the six years to live over again !
What would my wife have given to have been spared
the long days and still longer nights prostrate on a
bed of sickness! all of which would have been
avoided, had I then seen a copy of ‘ The Married
Woman’s Private Medical Companion.”’

DANGEROUS DELIVERIES,
OBSTRUCTIONS, IRREGULARITIES, AC.
How many are suffering from obstruction or irreg

dermine their health, the effects of which they are
ignorant, and for which their delicacy forbids seeking
medical advice! 'How many suffer from prolapsus
uteri (falling of the womb), or from fiuor-albus (weak
ness, debility, &c., ice.) 1 How many are in constant
agony for many months precedingconfinement! How
many have difficult if not dangerous deliveries, and
whose lives are jeoparded during such time, will find
in its pages the means of prevention, amelioration,
and relief \

“Da. A. M. Mauriceau : Had I known c of the im
portant matters treated of in • The Married Woman's
Private Medical Companion’ some years ago, how
mach misery I might have escaped ! I have suffered
years from causes which you point out in your book,
without knowing what to do. I obtained a copy, and
found my case treated of. I trust every female will
avail herself of the information contained in its pages.”
Letters are daily received of this character, unne
cessary to present.
To those yet unmarried, but contemplating mar
riage, or perhaps hesitating as to the propriety of
incurring the responsibilities attendant upon it, the
importance of being possessed of the revelations con
tained in these pages, so intimately involving their
future happiness, can not be appreciated.
It is, of course, impracticable to convey more fully
the various subject* treated of, as they are of a na
ture strictly intended for the married, or those con
templating marriage; neither is it necessary, since
it is every ono’s duly to become possessed.of knowl
edge whereby the sufferings to which a wife, a moth
er, or a sister, may be subject, can bo obviated.
