Outrage, Fraud and Imposition!!
THE PUBLIC HAVE BEEN DECEIVED,
BY PILLS called by names nearly similar to
Dr. Leidy’s Sarsaparilla Blood Pills; beware
of all such that are manufactured to be sold on tbe
reputation of of Dr. Leidy’s only genuine, original
and first Sarsaparilla Blood Pills ever'made or in
troduced, and the only Pills known to contain Sar
saparilla. BE NOT PERSUADED that other
Sarsaparilla Blood Pills are the same as Dr. .Lei
dy’s ; for there are many worthless Pills pedaled
and hawked about the country that are bought and
sold at any prices, manufactured by impostors, who
do not advertise them, but through ther trick in
calling them by names nearly similar to Dr. Lei
dy’s* expect to sell them through Dr. Leidy’s ad
vertisements, and thus deceive and impose upon
tbe public.
EXAMINE THE BOXES,
and let it be remembered that Dr. Leidy’s Sarsa
parilla Blood Pills are put up in oval wood boxes,
entirely surrounded with labels, engraved by a
bank note engraver of Philadelphia.
Remember, the top or lid of the box has upon
it an engraved portrait or likeness of Dr. N. B.
Leidy, with ornamental work; the bottom has upon
it his signature surrounded with medallion work ;
around the sides a yellow label with medallion and
other work upon it; the most expensive labels, and
difficult to countereir, in the'United States.
500,000 BOXES
have been sold annually for the last five years-
YOUNG & OLD, iIfALE FEMALE,
can always take them with equal safety, without
fear. IF PILLS BE NECESSARY
for purging and cleansing the Siojnacfrand Bowels,
and purifying the Blood and fluids of the body, take

McAllisters all healing ointment.
McALHSTEB’S AIL-HEAIDiG OINTMENT;
Or the World’s Salve.
Contains no Mercury or other Mineral'.
From the “ Reading Eagle.”
THERE was never, perhaps, a medicine brought
before the public, that has in so short a time,
won such a reputation as M’ALLISTER’S ALL
HEALING OR WORLD’S SALVE. Almost every
person that has made trial of it, speaks warmly in
its praise. One has been cured by it, of the most
painful Rheumatism ; another of the piles, a third
of a troublesome pain in the side, a fourth of a
swelling in the limbs, &c. If it does not give
immediate relief in every case, it can never do in
jury, being applied outwardly. As another evidence
of the wonderful healing power possessed by this
salve, we subjoin the following certificate, from a
respectable citizen of Maidencreek township, in
this county.
Maidencreek, Berks Co., March 30, 1848.
Messrs. Ritter & Co.—l desire to inform you that
I was entirely cured of a severe pain in the back,
by the use of M’AUister’s All-Healing Salve, which
I purchased from you. I suffered with it about
twenty years, and at night was unabte to sleep.
During that time I tried various remedies, which
were prescribed for me by physicians, and other
persons, without receiving any relief, and at last
made trial of this Salve, with a result favorable
beyond expectation. lam now, entirely free from
the pain, and enjoy at night a sweet peaceful
sleep. I have also used the Salve since, for other
complaints, with similar happy results.
Your friend, John Hollenbach.
Around the box are directions for using M’Allis

swelled or broken Breast, Toothache, Ague in the
Face. &c. &c.
Tetter—^ There is nothing better for the cure of
Tetter.
Burns- —lt is one of the best things in the world
for burns.
For Tumors , Ulcers , and all kinds of sores, it
has no equal.
Jf Mothers and Nurses knew its value in cases ot
“swollen or sore breast,” they would always apply
it. In snch cases, if used, according to the direc
tions. it gives relief in a very few hours.
Piles —Thousands are yearly cured by this Oint
ment. It never fails in giving relief for the Piles.
This Ointment is good for any part of the body
or limbs when inflamed. In some cases it should
be applied often.

Out of said balance, the following expenses
are to be paid, Printing Notices and Au
ditors’ fees,
In the foregoing statement it appears that the print
ing and publishing of notices of Fires, notices to mem
bers for collections of Fire Taxes, make a large portion
of the expense to the Company, which will be much
less heroafter. by making but one assessment per year
for payment of losses ; also much less labor to the Sec
retary, Treasurer. Directors and Agents, as provided
by the late alterations in the act of Incorporation and
By-laws, which will reduce the annual expenses of the
Company a considerable amount.
The Company unfortunately sustained and paid
many losses.to a large amount this last year, making
two collections amounting to 12 per cent on the premi
um notes. A number of Policies were surrendered for
cancellation by some of the members, who thought
proper to relieve themselves from contributing in such
a manner any further to make up the losseg of their
fellow members. Yet with such misfortunes and loss of
a number of members, the Company has increased in
the last year. A large amount of property Insured,
and a larger amount ol Premium Notes as a capital as
was at the commencement of the year, and as appears
from the number of applications for Insurances, the
Company is in a prosperous condition. Witness, our

BRANT’S INDIAN
PULMONARY BALSAM
Cura very many of the most 'strongly marked and developed
cases of pulmonary Consumption — &z/a.,undoubted cases of
ulcerated and diseased LUNGS— such hopeless cases as Were
never before cured by any othet.medicine. So uuerly hope
less were some of the afflicted persons, as to have been pro
nounced by physicians and friends to be actually dying
Some, who had their burial-clothes made, have been cured,
and yet live—others, who it was said would not live another
day, are now as well and hearty as they ever were.
It possesses all the cleansing aud purifying virtues nearly
as powerful and active as the preparation which we call
BRANT’S INDIAN PURIFYING EXTRACT.
This differs from that, because this possesses several other
Medications which are peculiarly adapted to, and are essential
ly necessary , to cure
Coughs and Consumptions,
and all diseases of a pulmonary nature—such diseases as
usually prove so fata* under ordinary treatment, when they
attack the
Breast, Throat, Lungs, and Heart.
This BALSAM heals and cures Ulcers in the Lungs, and
elsd where internally, as certainly and easily as the Puamr
-ING Extract cures and heals ulcers externally. This Bal
aam cures nine cases of Cough and Cancumprion out of ten,
after ail other remedies have failed to do good.
Thousands of Consumptions
and Chronic Coughs, abundantly prove its unfailing efficacy
in such diseases, and its undoubted curative power, and
soothing, healing properties, iu the following complaints and
diseases, viz.: Spitting of Blood, Bleeding at the Lungs, Pain
in the Breast and, Side, Night-Sweats. Nervous Complaints, Pal
pitation of the Heart Cholera Infantum , Dysentery and Sum
mer Complaints in Children and Adults, Asthma, and ALL
FEMALE WEAKNESSES AND COMPLAINTS.
No remedy that has been ottered to the public bas ever
been half as certain end effectual in correcting ALL the inci
dental weaknesses and irregularities of the female sex, as
BRANTS PULMONARY BALSAM. It makes no differ
ence whether the derangement be suppression, excess, or
other incidental weakness— it regulates ALL, by strengthen
ing the system, equalizing the circulation, and soothing and
allaying NERVOUS IRRITABILITY. See our Pamphlets
lor proof.
CONSUMPTION.
A Dying Woman Cured !
We state this cure to prove the power to save life, when
this BALSAM is used, even alter the person is considered
by physician and friends to be in the last stages of dueasio
—actually dying— and, in this case.'so far gone that the
shroud and burial-clothes were bought. For the particulars
nf this case, and the respectable and undoubted proof of all
the circumstances and facts, we refcr to our PAMPHLETS
This cure was etfected on Mrs. ZtBA DYKEMAN. of Balls
lon Spa, Saratoga Co.. N. Y. We can prove.beyond adoubt,
many others almost equally ns hopeless, and innumerable cases
of Coughs ami Consumptions CURED, which were pro
nounced incurable by 6kiifut-^Aystciaws.
LIVER COMPLAINT.
See the cure of Dr. Hubbard, of Stamford, Ct., and others.
Dyspepsia!
Sec the cure of T. S. Wilcox, merchant, of Attica, Wyoming
Co , N. Y.. and many more, in our Pamphlets.
Dysentery and Summer Complaint
in Children and Adults ttre always cured. Weakly Children
will become jleshy, healthy, and hearty, and grow rapidly, by
the use of this BALSAM.
No mother need ever mourn the death of her child by
O Holer a Infantum, while teething, if BRANT'S PUL
MONARY BALSAM be administered, it should be, for
<iic!) cases, given in larger than the ordinary doses.
PURITY! PURIFY!
LIFE and HEALTH arc in the BLOOD,
Cleanse, Purify, and Regulate the Circulation, and
the whole body will have health. The most tco/tderful
of all remedies to produce such a result, is
BRANT’S INDIAN
PURIFYING EXTRACT,
Yes, the desired result and efficacy will be produced
the use of a smaller quantity of this Purifier than, can he
effected by the use of a like quantity of any other remedy
in the world. (See our Pamphlets for proof.)
This Purifier is wholly prepared from Vegetables, and
cures the worst, most obstinate, and long-standing diseases
of the blood, without puking, purging, sickening, or debili
tating. it cleanses, strengthens, invigorates, makes Dew,
healthy blood, and gives new vigor and new hje to the whole
system.
BRANT’S PURIFIER is FOUR TIMES CHEAPER
than any other remedy in the world, because
ONE DOLLAR’S WORTH
of it will effect a greater amount of cure than four dollars'
worth of sarsaparilla, or any other remedy, no matter how
large their bottles may be. The- important question for con
sumers to determine, is, how much more curative effect wiU a
dollar's worth of this Purifier produce, than a dollars worth of
that sarsaparilla or other remedy. We might here say, that
Brant's Medicines had cured, within the last year,
100,000 Persons of Impure Blood Diseases,
and 20,000 Cases were considered Incurable
as some other patent-medicine men are in the habit of say
Lng. If we should say so, who would believe us? . Thi»
however, we do say, and stand ready to prove by respectable
witnesses, that Brant’s Medicines have effected cures of
more diseases on living human beings, the past year, tho n
any other remedy in existence did during the same time.
How much will a Dollar’s worth CUREP
TWnfy large, deep Ulcers were cured by using only twelve
bottles of Brant’j Purifier. ■ %
The following is the most wonderful and astonishing cure
that was ever effected on a human being, by any medicine.
Horrid Scroftala Cured.
Mb. J. B. Haskxn, of Rome, Oneida Co M If. Y., certifies,
December 20tb, 1846, that be bad been afflicted with Scro
fula four years, and the last year confined to bis bed, with
twenty- large, deep, discharging Ulcers— that his neck
was eaten around from ear to ear—a hole was eaten
through his Wind-pipe, so that he breathed through the
hole—his ear was nearly destroyed—the use of his arm
was wholly destroyed—and an Ulcer under the arm, as
large as a man's hand, had nearly eaten through Into his
Lungs—that he had used all kinds of Barsafarilla and
other medicines , to no benefit, and that he was not expected
to lice twenty-four hours when he commenced Brant's
Indian Purifying Extract —that nine bottles of the
Purifying Extract healed and cured seventeen of the
twenty Ulcers he had when he commenced using it, and
thBt a Jew bottles more effected a perfect cure. For full
particulars of this, and many other similar cures, see our
Pamphlets.
This Wonderful and Astonishing (TURK
does cot stand alone as a monument of the great tffeaey
of Brant’s Purifier, for we could give almost unlim
ited evidence of other cures, Well attested, if thU were
doubted. This cure is by
Fourteen Respectable Witnesses.

physicians of Rome—by Messrs. Bibsbll & Leonard,
wholesale and retail druggists—by Mr. G. R. Brown, pro
prietor and keeper of the West Rome'Hotel—ana by
eleven other witnesses.
Brant’s Indian Purifier

Salt-Rheum, Rheumatism, Eruptions, Pimples on the Face,
Piles, Biles, Ulcer's, Costiveness, Mercurial Diseases, Liver

Blood to the Head. etc., etc. *•
internal ulcers,
This cure is a triumph over the skill of the best physicians
in the city of Philadelphia, and is positive proof ?h c t
internal ulcers can be cured as easily as external, when
Brant’s Purifying Extract is used. Mr. John Hepburn,
one of the moat respectable gentlemen in Auiurn, Cayuga
Co., N. Y., informed us in Oct. 1847, that he had been af
flicted with three Fissures or Ulcers, so situated inter
nally as to allow of an examination, and thus furnish posi
tive proof of the fact, and of their location. He said that
he had spent one year in Philadelphia, under the-professional
advice ot' the best physicians, and was obliged to return tc
Auburn, without cure or help,” when Dr. T. M. Hunt,
drugget, of Aubnnj, advised him to try Brant's Purifying
Extract, and the use of seven bottles of it effected a perfect
cure. *
CHRONIC ERYSIPELAS AND ULCERS.
Astonishino and most wonderful Cure.— Capt. Erra
Knapp, of No. 37 Willow st, Brooklyn N. Y., one of the
most respectable citizens in the city, was afflicted five years
with Scrofulous Erysipelas of both legs, from the knees to
the feet, which inflamed and swelled to a prodigious size,
and ulcerated. Large deep ulcers,.apparently large enough
to run a finger in, came into t'neni, which discharged daily
an almost incredible quantity of a maturated substance.
He had had the advice and attendance of several of the
most skilful physicians, and had tried many highly recom
mended medicines without effecting a cure, and was told by
one or two of his physicians that the ulcers in his legs would
run him off before long. Brant’s PURIFYING EXTRACT has
cured these ulcerated and inflamed legs, so that now they
are entirely healed up, and he enjoys good health.
DYSPEPSIA—SOUR STOMACH CURED.
Attica. Genesee Co., N. Y., Feb. 1,1848.
M. T. WALLACE &. CO.—Gentlemen; I received a case
of Brant’s Medicines from you, and have been most won
derfully disappointed in the rapid sales made, and muck
more so in the general and particular satisfaction the medi
cal effect the medicines had- given to alt those who have
been fortunate enough to try them. I was myself, for mors
than a year, afflicted-with a disease of the Stomach. I could
not cat any fat or greasy substance without causing great
pain, sickness, and yomiting, and was continually afflicted
with a Sour Stomach. Wheo Brant’s Medicines came, I, as
an experiment, tried one bottle, which to my utter disap
pointment, eased and relieved the usual pain after eating. I
therefore used the ssoond bottle, which has completely cured
the disease. lam now well and hearty, and can eat almost
anything without being pained, or the stomach becoming,
soar. Please send me (mother supply by express, as some
who are taking it can not do without it, they have experi
enced so much benefit from its use.
Yours. Respectfully, T. 8. WILCOX.
