FLOUR.—The flour market remains very quiet
•Holders ask $4,87 for standard shipping brandsj
but few sales, have been reported. For city con
sumption, the' sales are at $5,00 to $5,37$ cents.
Rye Flour is dull at $2,94. The last sale of Corn
Meal was at $2,62$ per barrel.
GRAlN.—There is but a limited amount of
Wh'eat offering and prices are steady. Sales of red
at $1,06a1,07i, and white at $1,14. Rye is in de
mand. A salfe of 1200 bushels on Saturday at 62$
cents per bushel. Corn is inactive. Wequoteold
yellow at 64, and new at 55a56 cents. Oats —Sales
of Pennsylvania at 35a36 cents per bushel.
WHISKEY—Is in limited demand,
both bbls. and hhds. at 24a25 cents.
CATTLE MARKET. —-The offering of Beef
Cattle for the week was about 750 head. Beeves
are selling from $5,50 to 7,50 per 100 lbs. Hogs.
—There were 400 head in the market, and sold
from $5,00 to 5,50 per 100 lbs. Cows —100 sold
as follows—s2B to 40 for fresh, $l5 to 25 for
springers, and $S to 15 for dry. Sheep and Lambs.
—The former from $2 to 4, and the latter from $1
to 3.

A Supitfetnent to an Ordinance,
ENTITLED “An Ordinance providing for the
election and appointment of certain officers of
the Corporation,” passed the Isth day of February
A. D. 1849.
Preamble—Whereas, The necessary improve
ment of the Water Works, will cause numerous
additional dudes to develope upon the Superinten
dant, rendering it impossible for him to attend to
the collection of the water taxes, during its progress.
Sec 1. Be it therefore ordained and enacted by
the citizens of Lancaster, in Select and Common
Councils, assembled: That the Select and Common
Councils shall electa Collector of the Water Taxes,
independent of the saperlntendant of the Water
Works—and Collector of the Water Rents; and
that such Collector of Water Taxes be eleeted on
the second Tuesday of February. A. D. 1850, and
annually thereafter, when such Collector’s services
may be required.
Sec. 2. Be it further ordained, that the Superin
tendant of the Water Works, and the Collecter of
the Water Rents shall be entitled to receive for all
his services an annual salary ofS400; payable
quarterly, during such time that a Collector of
Water Taxes may be chosen and continued in service
Sec. 3. Be it further ordained that so much of
the said ordinance as is hereby altered or supplied,
is hereb^repealed.
Ordained and enacted into a law at the city of
Lancaster, on the Bth day of February, A. D. 1850.

to bespaid, will increase that amount to $30,000 by
the first day of January, 1851.
This Institution presents inducements to deposi
tors of money, which are not to be found in any
oiher Institution in the State, and enables persons
having no immediate use for their monies, to draw
an amount of interest therefore equal to the ordi
nary rates paid in the county and upon most un
doubted security.

In the Quarter Sessions of the
Peace of Lancaster Co.
APRIL 19th 1844. The Court order and direct
that all remonstrances to Tavern Licenses,
shall be filed on or before the Tuesday of the Ses
sions, to which the Petition is presented ; and no
remonstrances filed after that time shall be recei
ved, except upon such terms as justice to ail pda
ties shall seem to require.
JANUARY 28th, 1850. The Court order that
all 'J'avern Licenses presented for hearing at the
two first terms of the year, shall be taken up and
decided upon at the meeting of the Court on the
first Saturday morning of each of said terms, sub
ject to such orders of continuance as the business

AT a meeting of the Directors of tho Columbia
Bank and Bridge Company, held on Tuesday,
the 4th of December, 1849, it was
Resolved , That from and alter the oihfof Decem
ber, 1849, interest will be paid on deplosits made
with this institution, as follows, viz :
On sums deposited for three months, at the rate of
4 per cent, per annum.
On sums deposited for six and nine months, at the
rate of 4£ per cent, per annum.
On sums deposited for twelve monts, at the rate of
5 per cent, per annum.
The interest on the twelve months deposites to be
paid annually.

County Mutual Insurance Company, held at
the Office of the Company at Salisbury, January
Bth, 1850, the following named persons were elec
ted Directors, to serve for the ensuing year : Sam’l
Duffield, Henry F. Slaymaker, Nathaniel E. Slay
maker, David Graff, Thomas S. Mcllvain, Thomas
