A Thrilling Incident AT THE CHEAP BOOKSTORE.—A few days since, while gazing at the eager crowd hurrying into, and 'congregating around Spang lers Cheap Bookstore, our attention .was drawn to a young gentleman whose noble appearance soon made him the "observed of all observers." Alter lotiking for a few momenta upon the busy scene with cordent admiration. he suddenly gave expression to his feeling in the following exquis ite parody: I knew by the crowd that an hurriedly rushed To the door and the window that a Bookstore was near, And I said, if CHEAP Booxs in the world can be found, The eager crowd seeking will sure find them here. 'Tie noon; and in Book Stores that once flour ished LARGE, On the counter site snoozing the once active clerk, Every LEAF is at rest, and I hear not a sound; While at Spangler & Brother's all hands are at work. "Alt, here in this Bookstore, (he gently ex claimed,) - With a maid who was lovely to soul and to eye. Who would blush when I praised her and weep when I blamed, What a stock of FINE ANNUALS I surely would buy." Nercome by the intensity of his feelings, the youthful poet rushed into the store, and in a few moments we saw him coming out with two of Spangler's finest Books. Midas converted everything he tonched into gold, and the fabled Medusa changed all on whom she gazed into stone, but Spangler & Bro., with a nobler impulse, are satisfied with kindling the genial flame upon the Muses altar, and selling good Books a little cheaper than their neighbors.
