wonders in restorinethe sick to health and raising
many from beds of languishment. His Sherry Wine

which has been offered to the public for the last
ten years, and we recommend them to those who
are afflicted with Dyspepsia, li(adaehe Nervous

will be seen an advertisement of Dr. S. 0. Richard
son's Bitters: They are for sale in this town. Long
and extensive use of this judiciously compounded
vegetable tonic, has, we believe, fully convinced
the public that few other articles of this nature ad
vertised, possesses equal restorative and strength
ening powers. Many eminent physicians of the
regular faculty have given them their unqualified
approval, and wherever tried they have proved
salutary; and in all cases of debility, dyspepsia,
and other diseases where tonics are indicated,
highly efficacious. We speak from experience as
well as from information.—[Strafford N. H. Adver.

Consumption is the great curse of our northern
latitudes. It is the blight of domestic felicity and
the despoiler of beauty. It robs the cheek of its
healthful bloom, the. mind of its serenity, and the
eye of its brillancy. It wastes.the form, dims the
intellect, and plunges its victim into an early grave.
The young and the old, the serious vid the gay,
the city belle, the country lass, are alike its prey
and its victims. Blessings on the man, then, whose
genius and research furnished us weapons to bid
defiance to this " Dweller of the Threshold !" Ile
merits the applause and gratitude of ages ;—he
shall have ours, at least.
One of the most important discoveries of.modern
science, for the cure of pulmonary affections, is the
BALSAM of WILD CHERRY, and the credit of its
discovery is due to the celebrated Dr. Wistar. This
valuable compound has restored thousands of suf
ferers to health., It is expectorant, tonic and de
mulcent, and is said to be a purely vegetable pre
paration. Under its magic influence the most
obstinate coughs, colds, and bronchial irritations
disappear. We have used it and can recommend it,
particularly at this season, when the great cause of
disease, east winds, are so prevalent.
None genuine , unless signed I. BUTTS on the

Webster's Quarto Dictionary is, undoubtedly,
the most complete Dictionary of the English lan
guage that has ever been published, mut ages will
elapse before any other Dictionary of that language
will be required. It is, in every respect, far supe
rior to the folio editions of Johnson's Dictionary.
The Introductory matteron the origin and pro
gress of language—Etymology—the changes of the
English language, and other topics—contains an
immense mass of useful information, which must
have cost the author a very great degree of labor
and research. The pronunciation of Scriptural,
Classical, and Geographical names, forms a most
valuable appendix to the Dictionary, and cannot be
too highly appreciated.p—Ttromas Drc.F, (Author
