To the' Public. THERE is a period in the life of some men, that it becomes necessary for them to appear, in public, in self-defence, or, to correct erroneous representations;—for such a cause your humble servant has come forward. There has an erroneous opinion went forth to the public, respecting my habit of charging . my Patients,—in order that the public may be matte fully aware of my regular prices, .I take this method of informing them, and .all those who had occasion to employ a Physician, will see, by referring to their respective bills, whether mine is extfavagant or not, when they come to consider, that for any acute diseases I cure them in half the time that they have beendn the habit of being cured,—and - after they are mired, that they are not so reduced, by. their treatment, that they are wholly disqualified for their business for as long a time as they had been—and some for their whole lifetime • such cases occur daily, and we will now leave the public to judge. The • following is a list Of charges: For acute cases, fifty cents, for each visit, and twenty-five cents for medicine—at night, one Dollar. In chronic cases I treat persons by the month, from two to three Dollars according to the disease. When called to the country, I charge ac cording to the distance, from one Dollar up, if over four miles a regular deduction is always made ; in short I always charge according to the case, or ac cording to the regular established prices, of all reg ular medical men. The above terms have reference to those persons only, who ar4able to pay a Phy locum, the poor can get medicie at any time gratis. I am most respectful) Your ob't servent, Dn. C. This Bit is .!spected to supersede eventually all others, either for riding or driving, combining, as it does, the common snaffle, so arranged with the pulley, as to give any person perfect power over the most vicious or frightened horse. It obviates the objec tions made to the severe bits. now in use, which from their pairiful action, often make a spirited horse rear, kick and try to run away. This bit is pleasant in its action on the mouth, causing no pain Whatever, and'has the r quisite power when wanted —no horse having. been found able to resist it. The operation is as follows: The rein is hooked firmly to the saddle at A, passing through the loop C, into the bit over the roller at B, and securing it fast to the ring D, which prevents it from drawing back and forms the check rein now in use, and to which the driving reins are buckled and piss back to the driven For horseback, the loops and rings are dispensed with, the rein being continuous, form ing two reins, one of which is thrown over the saddle hornor strapped to the pummel, and the other to the rider's hand—both reins can pass thro' the rings of a martingale. For ladies it is particu larly recommended on account of its safety and power, as a horse is by no means able to throw his head sufficiently low to kick. For double harness the reins should pass from the Ist horse over to the bit of the 2nd, through the bit and back to the the saddle piece at G, of the Ist horse—platting the reins as they cross each other between the horses. Horses have been successfully driven with this bit, that were set aside as heyond management as harness horses with ordinary severe bits, front the habit or in ariable practice of running away in spite of the utmost endeavors of their driver—now they are good and serviceable horses. The Bits are manufactured only by HALDENIAN a. SEITZ, of Marietta, Pa.,who will attend to all orders concerning the sae of the same. The patent right of this invention has been secured, and it is coming fast into use. The undersigned is the Agent for Lancaster county, of the above Bit, and feels warranted in recommending it as a valuable invention. He %%Meld refer to the following persons, who have it in use: John Ferry, Manor; Henry Spiehlman, Jr., Stras burg; Jacob Stahl, Dr. J.. Cushman, Marietta. There is no necessity to multiply references, as the Bit recommends itself, upon inspection. For sale, Wholesale and retail, at manufacturers' prices. GEO. M. STEINMAN, Lancaster. Experience of many years, great' practical knowledge, and strict personal application, enables us to say our Fans are superior in every particular to any here tofore in use. Our attention is especially turned to fitting up, and all work undergoes our careful personal inspec tion before leaving our shop. In addition to our important improvements, our fans are celebrated for their ease in working; and the great expedition with which they clean all kinds of grain, besides their superior finish warrant us in saying they surpass all other mills manufactured, and we confidently warrant them to give entire sat isfaction upon trial. "CORN PLOUGH." We also call the especial attention of farmers, to KROUSER'S Patent Pennsylvania Buggy CORN PLOUGH, which are admitted to surpass all now in use.
