Monday night Meeks asked Mrs. Yerk

their rooms and struck them with the butt
end of an axe whlle they wero asleep. Ile

the women, saying:

wlthed te hurt them. I shuck them both
nn the forehead and both were unconscious
wheu I left them. The treuble grew out of

the pipes, when the little Merrow boy

Yeung Iluber attempted te save him,
but the pipes were sllpperyand he plunged
head first into the water after the boy he
was trying te have. The water Just at this
point was ten feet deep. The boys being
unable te swim were drewned. .A large
number of heats were put off, and nfler an
hour's work the bodies were recovered.

ecutive beard in Bcottdale, It was decided
te enter criminal and civil suits against the
Dunbar Kurn ace company for the less of

Knight of Iaber of the coke region and
the United Mlne Werkers of America will
bring criminal aults against (Superintend
ing Lang and the Dunbar Furnace com
pany. Master Workman Kerfoot, ofthe Knights
of Laber, openly charges the furnace com
pany with retaining part ofthe money that
was contributed te them for the relief of
the sufTorers.
