A Valuable Discovery Mr. P. O. Fewler, or Bridgeport, Conn., ttddressed a society of engineers, Saturday evenlnfr, respecting his discovery of a property of steam which under some cir cumstance lll cause an instantaneous doubling or boiler pressure without tue application or mere lient. His claims were domenstiatctl by a small boiler, in which the pressure wns rnlsed te 40 pounds, and, after being removed from the fire, sud denly thrown te 80 pounds. In another experiment the prossure was raised in an instant from 80 pounds te 100. It was claimed that tills property accounted for rnany ae-called mysterious boiler explo sion, or these which withstood the inspec tor's test and then exploded at lower pressures. It was shown hew this property could be readily removed from the boiler, and the same wns demonstrated by suc cessful experiments. .
