Tbe only Lancaster case argued before
the beard of pardons en Tuesday was that
of Jehn W. Kudy, convicted of murder in
the Arst degree. Ills counsel, B.Frank Eeh
leman and Jehn A. Ceyle,argucd for a com -muUtlbn
of the death penalty te a life im
prisonment. In support of their argument
they presented petitions numerously
signed, praying for the commutation, and
a special appeal from nine of the twelve
Jurers who convicted him.

Death of An Old Ilorse.
F. A. Albright, of Ne. 8J7 West King
street, lest a valuable borse by death en
Monday evening. He was a sorrel 27 years
of age and was known as " Fex." Mr,
Albright owned him for 23 yeais, much of
which time he drove him In a bread wagon,
as Mr, Albright was formerly a baker.
Berne time age the horse took a cold and
death resulted. The herse was such a fa fa fa
vorlte with Mr. Albright and family that

Mrs. Harvey Bembergor, of Aurera,
Illinois, formerly Miss Emma Hledcl,
daughtoref she late Charles Hledel, who
