The Clubs Win Their Usual Applntixe.
The coltege graduate of Yerk enjoyed a
rare treat last evening, and one auch as
only college men can apnnklataxie the full.
it was tne nrst appearance or uie giee anu
mandolin clubs of Franklin and Marshall
college in our sister city, and as the gloss
and inolndles rang through the opera
house many a man was carried back te the
days-when be leafed, and; smoked In the
dormlterlcs,'or sang! and told stories en the
shady campus at his own dear alma mater.
Strictly speaking it was an evening ruled
by collego spirit, and the feuding society of
Yerk, which composed the audlence of
four hundred people,, Was net long In ap
preciating the fact. It was the second ap
pearance of a college club In Yerk, Prince
ton having sung there In 1862, and the
Impression mide by the V. A M. boys will
last rer years.
The reporterlo of both clubs was Just
about exhausted. The audlence demanded
much, the boys were only tee glad te sup
fply Us demandi,(nudj as a result, were

entertainment. Te the glee " I Jxing

bar in jiirt flntt of the pregramme,
encere followed encore, and the applause
could net be staged until the club Died ac ac
cress the stage in slngle line, this being a
llttle inure graceful than for the club te
ceme out and bows its thanks. The ciltt-
clsms pAsaodupen tbe singing and the
playing were favorable In nil In
stances. The chorus mid Its even
tlme were especially commendod. Mr.
Orccnawuld Bang an old English
melody as his third encere, and the Man Man
eolin club nover played belter. Mr. Ir Ir
vlne was in botter volce than at anv tlme
during the present term, and in conse
quence was recalled flve times en his se!6
"The Pullman Train."
The club appealed in Yerk under the
ausplces of the I'h I Sigma soclety at the
Yerk Collcglate institute, and was wuked
up iu person by Mr. Stanley Hughes,
Princeton M, an instructor In the Institute.
A very pressing invitation was rocelvod
from Iiothlehoin, Pa., te liave u concert
sung tuore, but the faculty prescribed all
hopes in that directions by refusing te ex
cuse any mere rocltatlens this term. The
club will sing next Saturday at 10 it. in. at
the prize dobate III the collego chapel. The
glee ulub has donated u geld medal for this
centest, and all the oxerclscsef the morn
ing will be under the direction of the club.
