King streets. The candy was unleaded
en trio Prlnce Rtriet tld of the store, and,
the clerks did net loam tiat It was tboie
for seme tlniu ullerwards. One of them
then went out, and upon looking nt'thu
candy, found that the lid had been pried
from one of the buckets and se veral pounds
had been stolen. Tlie young man put the
lid back and placed sevcral ethor buckets
upon this ene. Later Mr. Itelst went out
te see If the candy was nil right. He found
three boys, who had taken the under
bucket out again, In the net of helping
theintclves. He caught the threo InMit
arms, but ene HUIe fellow slipped
away. The ethers were handed ever te tlie
poltcennd taken te thu station house, but
no candy was found upon tlieni. They
gave, their 11:11001 as Charles Frank lord
and A me j Jenes, nnd were after
wards released until this morning,
when they uppeired before the mayor, who
discharged them alter 11 severe reprimand.
The boys both denied thatithey had
stolen the first let of candy, but said It hud
been taken by ethors.

The funeral of Samuel Slokem took
place from his Inte rcsldenceat ChrUtiaiia
this morning. It vies very largely at
tended and a grout muny mentis of the
deceased from this city went down en the
8 o'clock truin. Tlie interment wns made
at SadKbury Friends church, about two
miles from Christiana, whero the services
were held. The pall-bearers were : Charles

Accident Te u liellnr.
On Sunday the boiler of the watch fac
tory was cleaned out und repairs insde te
the arm hole. This morning shortly alter -1
o'clock, Charles H. Graham, the night
watchman, fired up mid a. leak was dis
covered in the packing nt the arm
hele. Water beun running out and
Graham attempted te tighten It. He
twisted etr the screw that held
the ltd of the arm hole en, und It foil
into the boiler. There was a rush efstuint
and het water, biitOrahnm succeeded In
keeping out of the way of It. There weie
several Inches of water in the boiler
room and through this Graham waded uu I
extinguished the tire. A boiler-tinker was
sent for te make the repairs, und thore was
no interference with the running of the
factory In which two boilers are lued.

Harvey T. Iteilly, n well-known rail
road mau of this city, who Is employed as
a flagman en the Way Passenger train,
which leaves this city each morning nt C:S0
for Harrlsburg, met with a peculiar acci
dent en Saturday, near Ralnbrldge. Mr.
Rellly had gotten eirhls train te go luck
te Hag any ether train that might approach
from the rear. Hu stepped upon u stone
which turned and he was thrown violently
te thn ground. He btruck bome sharp
ebjact which almost cut ene -of his ears
from his head. He was taken te Harrls
burg where his wound was dressed by I)r.
