A dispatch, from Covington, Indiana,
Mjra that en Tuesday- night at Brewn'a
ehapeL a country church, about ten mllea
from Covington, 30 persons, dtagaleed with
White cape and masks, face blackened and

took the preacher. Her. 8. Lindsay, of
Danville, Illinois, te the weeds, about a

the treuble seems te be the manner of con

Forelgn Missionary Werk.
TheWomauFerelgnMlsalonary society,
embracing the West Philadelphia district
of the Philadelphia Methodist Episcopal
conference, held a largely attended meeting
in the Springfield, Chester county, Metho
dist Episcopal church, en Thursday. The
district embraces some 40 churches. The
meeting also included the anniversary of
the Springfield Auxiliary of the missionary
society. The pregramme included devo
tional exercises conducted by Rev. W. H.
Powiek ; address of welcome, Mrs. Rev.
Pewlckj response. Mrs. Dr. Satchel), of
Philadelphia. Reports submitted showed
a flourishing condition of affairs. At 3 p.
m., consecration servlccs were led by Mrs.
Dr. Vemon, of Lancaster. "Open Deers
and Our Ability te Enter Them," was the
Buject of address by Mrs. Mary V. Rcise
ncr, of Lebanon.
