Sunday was the day set apart for the
dedication of the .Parndlse IT. B. church,
near Clay. Sen Ices were held en Satur
day evening In the German language by
Rev. H. B. Spayd, of Shamekln, Fa, Sun
day morning opened with a heavy rain
and dark clouds. Itcv. C. J. Kephart,
president of IxLanen Valley collego, oc
cupied the pulpit and preached anabloend
eloquent sermon In the F.ngllsh lauguage.
The dedication was postponed Until the
afternoon.
Itev. M. J. Mumma, presiding elder of
Ihellarrlsburg district, dellvered an able
discourse In the German language, at the
afternoon service. The Uem's supper waa
then held. When this was evor the effort
te ralse the money te llriuldate the debt
was in order. The cost was 2,81n.10t
amount subscribed, fiOMi.Wi the amount
required was I770.&9 j 800 was asked for,
and 870.81 was raised. As the hour nas
late the dedicatory exercises took place In
the evening, after the regular services.
Bev. Spayd again occupied the pulpit anil
delivered an able sermon In the Kngllsh
lsniraage. Itev. Keplinrt then formally
dodlcated the church te Ged and his ser
vice. It is one of the finest of the country
churches In the l'at Pennsylvania ccn ccn ccn

showed commendable skill.
The trustees and memliers are exceed
ingly pleased with thecdlflce. Thore wero
a number of special features te ralse money
for tlie church which are worthy of men
tion. The pews, chandeliers, etc., wcre
collected specially and donated by A. P.
Miller and II. 1.. Steliimelz. The carpets,
furnlture and ether neccHnary nrticles were
thus donated bv Mrs. r.berly, Mrs. Weld
man and Mrs. 1'rb.
