HIS FOOT IN THEFROG.
A BagsageMastr Unable te Free It
and a Train Cuts It Off.
Andrew Schwlllck, a baggage-master en
the Reading railroad, had a thrilling ex

He was crossing the railroad tracks at
that point when his feet get caught In a
frog. He made an effort te free It, but only
succeeded In securing It still mere firmly.
At the same Instant he heard the rear of an
approaching train, and looking up aaw one
thundering down upon him at frightful
speed. He waved his arms aloft te tbe
engineer, who put en the airbrakes, but
obviously te no purpose, as the train was
traveling tee fast.
Schwlllck took In the terrible situation

was no possibility of freeing his feet nor
of stepping the train before it should reach
him. He determined if possible te save
his life if be lest his feet. He threw him
self at full length te one side as far as the
Imprisoned feet would permlt, his body
and the ether leg being beyond the reach
of the wheels. But te prevent being struck
by projecting portions of the axles and
thus have his whole body drawn under
the wheels or crushed in ether ways he
laid down flat.
Down upon him swept the locomotive
The ponderous wheel caught his leg at the

dragged his body and the released limb be

seen as the locetnotlvo had passed and was
seen assisted by onleokors te a neighbor

at once summoned. His fortltude com
